auwwiiom W HUGHES vice may be used as an ordinary flash lamp, as the rays from the flash light 8 pass through the bore 5 and outwardly from the stock through the opening 7 in the end 5 thereof. The walls of the opening 7 are beveled outwardly from the end of the bore to the extremity of the stock so that the rays of light will be deflected to cover a relatively larger area than the size of the 10 stock.
From the foregoing description of the construction of my improved device, the
manner of applying the same to use and the advantages thereof will be readily understood and it Will be seen that I have pro vided an improved spirit level which is simple and durable in construction, inexpensive to manufacture and one which Will "be very etficient and useful. in operation.
While I have particularly described the elements best adapted to perform the func tions set forth, it is obvious that various changes in form, proportion and in the minor details of construction may be re sorted to without departing from the spirit or sacrificing any of the principles of the invention.
Having thus described this invention What I claim is 1. A spirit level comprising a stock hav ing transverse sight openings therein and also provided with a bore communicating with said openings and terminating at its one end in a pocket formed adjacent one end of the stock, bubble tubes mounted in the Walls of said sight openings, the end of said stock opposite that having the pocket therein being provided with a socket terminating in one Wall of the adjacent sight opening and in alinecentral longitudinal ment With the bore, 'and a flash light mounted in the aforesaid pocket.
2. A spirit level comprising a stock having transverse sight openings therein and providedwith a central longitudinal bore communicating with said openings and terminating at its one end in a pocket adjacent one end of said stock, said stock being also provided withchannel-ways affording communication from a pair of opposite faces of 50 the stock, to said bore and extending for the greater portion of the length of said stock, bubble tubes mounted in the Walls of said sight openings, and a flash light mounted in the aforesaid pocket.
3. A spirit level comprising a stock having a plurality of transverse sight openings therein and also having a central longitudinal. bore communicating with the openings and terminating at its one end in apoc-ket formed adjacent one end of said stock, said stock being also provided with a pair of channeleways aifording communication between a pair of opposite side faces of the stock and said bore and extending for the greater portion of the length of said stock, the end of said stock opposite that adjacent which the pocket is formed being provided with a socket terminating in the adjacent sight opening and in a-linement With said bore, bubble tubes mounted in the walls of said sight openings, and a flash light mounted in the aforesaid pocket of the stock.
