To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that LROLAND A. MolDoNALD, a citizen of the United States, residing at St. Joseph, in the county of Buchanan and State of Missouri, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Laundry Devices, of which the following is a speclfication, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawing.

This invention relates to laundry devices and has for its object the production of a simple and efficient means for wrapping soiled or other laundry so as to keep the same in a compacted package whereby the loose articles will not have a tendency of falling or becoming detached from the pack a e.

Another object of the invention is the production of a simple and efficient form upon which the package may be rolled in order that the package may hold its normal position during transit, and will not be likely to become untied and allow the articles in the bundle to become detached therefrom.

With the above and other objects in view this invention consists of certain novel combinations, constructions, and arrangements of parts as will be hereinafter fully described and claimed.

In the accompanying drawing :Figure 1 is a front elevation of the package form shown in position ready for wrapping the articles around the same. Fig. 2 is a front elevation of the form wherein the shirt is in the first folded position ready for wrapping around the form. Fig. 3 is a detail perspective of the form upon which the articles are adapted to be wrapped. Fig. 4 is a rear view of the package showing the same in an assembled position. Fig. 5 is a front view of the package showing the same in an assembled position. Fig. 6 is an embodiment of the present invention showing the supporting hook supported therefrom wherein the form upon which the articles are adapted to be wrapped is formed of sheet metal, the side straps being formed integral therewith. Fig. 7 is still another embodiment of the invention whereby the form is made of a rigid piece of material having straps or bands formed thereon.

By referring to the drawings by numerals it will be seen that 1 designates the body with the form of a rigid piece of material and comprises an elongated rectangular structure as indicatedclearly in Figs. 1 and 3. A flexible strip 2 is secured to the back or rear face of the body 1 by means of rivets or any other suitable fastening means 3. The flexible strip 2 is provided with a buckle 4 at one end which is adapted to engage the free end 5 of the strip 2 for binding the flexible strip around the bundle and holding the bundle in an assembled position.

A supporting loop- 6 is secured to the rear face of the body 1, and has its lower ends fitting under the flexible strip 2 and secured by means of a rivet or other suitable fastening means 7. This loop is adapted to facilitate thesuppo-rting of the body 1 upon a hook or other suitable support when the laundry device is not in use. In wrapping a bundle the body of the laundry device or bundle form 1 is placed upon the bosom of the shirt so as to extend in a plane substantially parallel to the shirt when brought to'an extended position asshown in Fig. 1. The sleeves of the shirt are then folded inwardly, having the cuffs thereof folded under the rear face of the form or body 1. Prior to this step, however, the loose articles such as socks and other arti cles desired to be wrapped in the bundle are placed under the form or body 1 as clearly illustrated in Fig. 1. It, of course, should be understood that where a number of shirts are desired to be sent, these shirts are placed one upon the other so as to extend in a position as shown in Fig. 1. Of course, the sleeves can then be folded under and over the body 1 of the device as shown in Fig. 2. After the cuffs have been placed under the form or body 1 as illustrated in Fig. 2 the shirt is then rolled, beginning with the neck band so as to roll over the body 1, and then the bundle is rolled until the inner portion of the shirt is rolled in one complete or compacted bundle as illustrated at 8 in Fig. 4, whereupon the respective ends of the flexible band 2 are brought around the ends of the bundle and then are passed transversely thereof by twisting as indicated at 9 so as to have the respective for allowing the form to be conveniently supported in any desired position upon a hanger. The body 10 is provided with flexible side bands 12 which may be provided with any desired or suitable fastening means for connecting the flexible bands together and binding the same around a bundle.

As illustrated in Fig. 7 there is still another embodiment of the invention wherein the body 13 is provided with an integral eye 14, and this body may be made of stiff leather, fiber, wood, or metal and is provided with apertures 15 at its ends for receiving flexible band or straps 16 for facilitating the tying of a bundle in the same manner as illustrated in Figs. 4 and 5.

In the foregoing description it will be seen that a very simple and eflicient device has been produced for wrapping a bundle of laundry wherein the shirts and other articles may be wrapped so as to prevent the loose or small articles from becoming detached from the package. It should be further understood that by producing the stiff board or body 1 as illustrated in the present case the cuffs of the shirts may be placed thereunder and will not become cracked while the laundry is being wrapped. Of course, it should be understood that the collars and also other stiff articles may be placed under the board so as to be held in a flat position, thereby preventing injury to the same.

Having thus described the invention what is claimed as new, is

l. A laundry form comprising an elongated body formed of stiff material, a supporting loop secured to the back thereof for facilitating the supporting of said body while the same is not being used, a flexible band passing over the back of said body and engaging the lower end of said loop for firmly holding said loop upon said body, said flexible band extending longitudinally of said body and projecting from the ends thereof whereby said band may be wound around a bundle of articles wrapped thereon for holding the articles in an assembled position, and means formed upon the ends of said flexible band for holding said band firmly around a bundle wrapped upon said bod 2 A laundry form comprising an elon gated body, a flexible band extending from the ends thereof, a supporting loop carried by said body, and said body being formed of rigid material for constituting a form upon which a bundle is adapted to be wrapped.
