JOHN H. THOMPSON, 0F ELYRA, HIO.
BRACKET.
Application led December 12,'1913.
1/ 0 aN whom t may concern Be it known that I, JOHN H.. THOMPSON, a citizen of the United States, residing at Elyria, in the county of Lorain and State of Ohio, 4have invented a certain new and useful Improvement in Brackets; andv l. do declare the following to be a 'full and complete specification, such as will be clear to those skilled in the art.
My invention relates to improvements in brackets and more particularly to wall brackets :tor supporting sinks lavatories and simi.4
lar devices.
lt is freiprently necessary to suspend from a wall objects of this character, Weighing as much as three hundred pounds and .requin ing three or four men to locate them.
Une of the objects Of my invention is to provide suitable means for quickly and se curely attaching these objects to the wall or other support at the same time permitting them to be easily removed from the wall` I also aim to prm'ide means for locating the lsink or other vdevice with respect to a pipe or lother object so that' it .may be quickly and accurately placed at the first effort without the gang of men having to mount and dismount the apparatus several times in a cut and try nethod as has been the custom hitherto, a procedure which resulted in the loss oit time, the useless expenditure ot' energy, the mutilation ot' much ,pla-ster., etc., inaccuracy in locating the apparatus and .insecurity in its mounting.
@ther objects of myA invention and the invention itself will probably be best linden stood from an illustration ot a particular embodiment of the same.
Referring novvto the illustrationz-Fig ure i, is a plan view of an embodiment of my invention, l" n is a .trout elevation of he innl'naiinlent7 1l. Fig'. 3, is an end View of a section. through the line ;\.---A of Fig. Q, showing the sink attached and the Water pipes in position. Fig. 4t, is a sectional end view ot the sink.
At l, l show the base member, preferably loupand flat.. The base memberT is provided with means by which a sink or other Object is connected thereto; such means are here shown as a plurality' of sockets 2, preferably on the upper odge and near the ends of theI are screw holes y is attached to the wail with screws or her suitable means. The base member is provided with long slots base. .lust be )w tho rl 3, through 'which tl Specification of Letters Patent.

4, which are so lengthened that a part of each is bound to fall over one of the studding in the Wall, when screws or bolts are driven through these slots into the studding the bracket will be secured to the wall, the screws in the small holes 3, serving to prevent longitudinal movement o1. the bracket. The bracket is provided with a pendant member, here shown as located at. the central part of the base member, extending outward and downward at 9, and bent over, at 20, substantially parallel with the base member. The' part Q0 is provided with guides tor pipes or other objects, here shown as holes 5.
When it is desired to support a sink or similar device from the wall, the pipes Q1 having been already located, the ends 22 thereotl sticking through the wall, the bracket is so placed that the ends Q2 of the pipes project tl'irong'h the Aopc-mings 5, the workman sounds tor the studdingrdrives the screws through the slots 4, into the stud ding and smaller screws through the open ings 3, into the plaster to prevent sidewisc movement of the bracket, then hangs the sink 8 upon the bracket, lugs 23 upon the sink engaging the slots 2, and the holes 7, in the sink being so located Awith respect to the lugs 23 that they coincide with thc ends of the pipes when the sink is in place.
I claim :-H l
1. ln a device of the class (inscribed, the combination of a base member having a plurality of pockets in the upper side and near the ends thereof, said pockets adalitcd lo cooperate with the lugs on an object, whereby the l'n'aokct supports the same, said base member boing' provided with a plurality ot slots by which it may be connected to a wall and a pendant arm, integral with said base member. said arm being.)r extended outward and downward from Said base member, the end ot tl i arm being bent downward.y substantially parallel with the base member and provided with openings to engage pipes or other objects, substantially as described.
2. In a device of the class described, the combination of a base member provided with means by which a sink is attached and supported thereby and provided with a plu-v rality of slots in the upper part of said base member, means driven through said slots by which :it isl'securod to a wall or other upright, a pendant arm extending outward and downward from the lower part of said base mvmh :mii inieglnl (hcimviih and circulan' nlwuingls in the lower part oi? smid haa@ mehr hei' coinciding with similar openings in the sink.
i3. in u device of the dass dscrihed, the vmuhinniioh Uf a. long fiat imac man'xbei' pw vii'hw. with menus by whivh :i sink 0i' other uhjccf; muy he attached und suspended heio .iom und with lfmgzii'ufiixm'l, Riots in ih@ upper purto'i szxii'l him) mcn'ihni n pendant :ivm iutegrnl with Suid base n'xeu'iboi, Suid m'm 0X- tzomling imvnwmwi and mitwnid imm Suid haw memmi, and terminating in :111 end piece, suhgtnniziiy parallel wiih 4the base member und provided with openings in the 1i; lower part for engaging; pipes or other 0bjlucts, suhsinnt'n'liy as described.
4Vin wiincfss whereof, I have affixed my Signatur@ in the presence of two witnesses, this 0th day of Dec. 1918.
