UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
ALICE M. HUGHES, or HUDSON CITY, NEW JERSEY.
IMPROVEMENT IN DIAPERS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent N0. 109,4 l0, dated November 22, 1570.
.To aZZ whom t may concern.:
Beit known that I, ALICE M. HUGHES, of Hudson City, in the county of Hudson and State of New Jersey, have invented a new and Improved Ghilds Diaper; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, which will enable Others skilled in the art to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification.
Figure l represents a side view of my' improved childs diaper, showing it applied. Fig. 2 is a plan View ofthe same.
Similar letters of reference indicate c'rresponding parts.
This invention relates to a diaper which is so made that it will conveniently t children of larger or smaller size, and fully answer the objects for lwhich it is intended. The diaper is made of one triangular piece of Water-proof fabric, of which each side contains a piece of elastic cord or web, so that it will be made self-adjusting when applied. The diaper of this kind is cheaply constructed and readily put on.
A in the drawings represents my improved diaper. It is made of triangular form, and
has a piece, a, of elastic cord or web inserted on each side, such cords or webbing tending to contract tin-sides in which they are secured. The diaper isap plied by laying one side around the abdomen, connecting the ends in front by a button, b,and by there drawing the third end over the crotch and securing it also by the button b, as indicated in Fig. l. The limbs will thus be embraced, the elastics drawing the edges of the fabric close against the Same without causing inconvenience. l
This diaper, it will be Seen, is made without seams and of one single piece, being thereby cheaply and readily constructed.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent# A triangular diaper, A, having the elastic band c in each side, button-holed at two corners and buttoned at the other, all as described, for the purpose of giving fullness to the seat and elasticity to the sides, to admit of the childs free movement in any direction.
ALICE M. HUGHES.
