Description

UNITED STATES PATENT OEEICEO JOHN FRASER, OF DOWAGIAG, MICHIGAN.
IMPROVEMENT IN HORSE- COLLAR PADS.
Specilication forming part of Letters Patent No. 108,995, dated November. 8, 170.
To all whom, t may concern.-
Beit known that I, JOHN FRASER, of Dowagiac, in the county of Cass and State of Michigan, have invented a newand useful Improve ment in Horse-Collar Pads; and I do declare that the following is a true and accurate description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, and being a part of this specification, in which- Figure l is a cross-section of my improved pad. Fig. 2 is a longitudinal section of the same, and Fig. 3 is a detached view of the -spring-shield.
Like letters refer to like parts in each gure.
The nature of this invent-ion relates to an improved construction of a horse-collar pad, so that it will always be in shapeand not affected by the weather.
It consists in the peculiar arrangement of the several parts, as more fully hereinafter described.
In the drawings, Arepresents the inner lining of my collar-pad, which has been suitably shaped to receive the stuffing or cushion B,
which is sewed or glued, or both, to the lining.
Over the stuffing B, I place a suitable metallic spring-shield, O, which same serves to keep the pad in shape, and prevents the pad from wetting through when exposed to the rain. A covering, D, is then placed over the whole, and sewed to the lining A.
1 The stuffing or cushion may be prepared in long strips, so thatwhen required for use the proper lengths may be cut off without losing the time generally spent in stuffing the pad, as when made in the ordinary manner.` I would also suggest that tow be used for the stufling, as it makes a much better cushion.
What I claim as my invention, anddesire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The arrangement, in a horse-collar pad, of the inner lining, A, the cushion B, shield C, and cover D, when the several parts are constructed substantially as described and shown, and for the purposes set forth.
J OlIN FRASER.
