SAMUEL SEG-AL, 0.1i* NEW YORK, N. Y., ASSIGNR T0 BRGLAR RCOF LOCE OMFANY,
' INC., OF NEW YORK, N. Y., A CORPORATION 0I? NEW YRK;
toon.
To-all whom itmag/ concern Be 1t known that I, SAMUEL York city, in the county of New York and State of New York, have invented new and useful Improvements .in Locks, of which the following is a specification.
The invention relates to attachments for locks and has for its object to provide a simple and eliicient means for connecting the lock casing and keeper, whereby, to prevent the prying open of like.
the novel details of construction and combination of parts more fully hereinafter described and particularly pointed` out in the claims,
Referring to the accompanying drawings forming a part of this specication in which like numerals designate like parts in all the viewsz-#Figure l is a perspective View of a'l'ock of the Yale type showing 'my invention applied thereto. Fig. 2 is a hori` zontal sectional vie-w of a portion of a door and 1casing with the parts shown in Fig. l secured to position thereon, and also showino' parts of the lock broken away 'for the salie of clearness, and Fig. 3 is a etail perspective view of the angular tie strip.
Referring to the drawings in detail 'i indicates a portion of a door to which is sev cured the lock casing 2, 3 indicates a portion of the-door casing to which is secured the keeper 4, and' 5 indicates a tie strip ttor connecting the lock casing and keeper when the door is 1n the closed and locked position,
Specication oflltetters Peten@ Application tiled May 29, 1913. Seriai No. 77033611..
SEGL, a citizen of the United States, residing at Newa door from its casing, by the use of a burglars tool or the To these-ends the inventionconsists in Patented- Fen 1v, i914.
and ,is of such size as to receive the bolt it when 1t passes into the keeper.; Thus, it
-Will'be seen thatthepresence of the angu-`v llar-sluiped tie strip operates tounite the lock casing' and keeper when the parts are eorncted and locked ne shown nFigs. l an By meansmt the upwardly projecting lug 12 formed on the lock casingit will be 'seen 'that the angular tie strip is normally held in horizontal position and that the bolt ref .ceiving portion of Athe strip is properly guided into and out of the keeper when the door is opened and closed. A small' knob or handle 13 is also provide end of the angular strip for t e purpose of throwing it into and out of operative relation with the keeper when desired.
From the foregoing it will he seen ,that
lby the use of an improved lock constructed in accordancey with .my invention.,v it will be practically impossible to spring lthe lock casing from its keeper as is now done bybnrglars by the insert-lon of a toolbetween the door and its easing.
K It is obvious that those skilled in the. art may vary the details et" construction and arrangements of parts wit-hout departing from the spirit ot my invention and' theretore' l do not wish to be limited to' such features exceptas may be required by the claims. i
W hat is claimed as new is:
1. Means for connecting the lock Casin and keeper, comprising an angular-shape tie strip pivotalty connected at one end to the lock casini and havingvits other end adapted tobe detachably intel-locked with the keeper, said strip being also adapted to be thrown into and Aout oifo'perative relai on the free to-the lock casing. and having its 4 through the lateral opening tereof.
haviiig its other end interlocked Within the l In testimony whereof I affix my signature keeper by passing through the lateral openin presence of two Witnesses.V
in@ thereof said tie strip being provided l v wih an opening in the 1ast-named end for i SAMUEL SEGAL' receiving the lock boit, and a lug mounted Witnesses: on the lock casing for holding the tie strip y C, JAMES CRONIN, 1n operative relation with the keeper. WM. C. WOLF.
