To all whom it may canoe-rm,
Be it known that I, VILLIAM Louis Bus- SOLO, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of McAlester, in the county of Pittsburg and State of Oklahoma, have invented a new and Improved Wrench, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.
My invention relates to wrenches, and has for its object to provide a wrench having two jaw. members pivoted together, one of the jaws being pivoted to the handle the other jaw being connected to the handle by a link.
The wrench may be constructed at little expense, and with it it is possible to obtain a firm hold on a pipe or other similar material. As the wrench is constructed it is possible for a mechanic to make use of it with one hand.
Other objects of the invention will appearin the following specification, in which the preferred form of my invention is described.
Similar reference characters refer to similar parts in all the views, in which- Figure l is a side elevation of the inven-- tionyl ig. 2 is an end view of Fig. 1, and Fig. 3 is a transverse plan View of Fig. 1, on the line 3-3.
By referring to the drawings it will be seen that a handle 5 is provided, having an arm 6, a jaw member 7 being pivoted between two jaw members 8, the rear terminals 9 of the said jaw members 8 being pivoted to the handle 5. A link 10 is pivoted to the-arm 6 of the handle 5 at one end, the other end of the said link 10 being pivoted to the rear terminal 11 of the jaw 7. The
link 10 has several orifices 12, so that-a pivot pin 13 maybe disposed thnough'anji one of these orifices to adjust the position, of the jaw 7 relatively to thejaws 8 when the said jaws 8 are disposed substantially in alinement with the handle 5.
When using the wrench, the jaws 7 and 8 are disposed one at each side of a pipe or similar member 13 and the handle 5- is two jaw members disposed at o posite sides of the handle, and pivoted t creto, the jaw members having shoulders for engaging shoulders on the handle, a third jaw member disposed between the first-men-v tioned jaw members and pivoted thereto, and a link having terminals disposed between the terminals of the arm and pivoted thereto, the link extending between the first-mentioned jaw members, with its other' terminal forked at the other side of the firstmentioned jaw members, the third jaw memher being pivoted between the forks.
