Figure 3 is an edgeview of the same. l l Myinvention has relation' tof fastening devices for I window-sasjhes, and` consists in connecting springs with i lthe rollers, arranged in oblique slots, for the purpose ot'holding such rollers to duty againstthe jamb ot`the window, soarranged thatthe sash will be prevented from ymoving upward, `as `well-,as downward, thereby making it perfectly steady, and serving, through -the lower roller, as a lock for securing t-he sash down. Iv 'L' are the rollers, usually having each but one journah'e, bearing in its slot z.' The perimeters of the rollers operate most satisfactorily when bound with rubber.

vWithin the recess is a small spring, s, arranged to draw or push the upper roller into the upper end' ot' the recess, and thus keeping it constantly in contact with the window-jamb. v

The lower roller is kept in contact by its own weight;

hence they are both automatic in their action.

The rollers are operated to release the sashby means' ofthe projecting jonrnals,which are furnished with little knobs' a a.

I am aware that it is not new to use a rubber roller in an inclined slot, for the purpose in view; hence, I do not claim such an invention; but
