noosnnsnnavn BLOCK.
To (ZZZ whom it may concern:
. tween the two sheaves or pulleys.
It is also the object of the present invention to provide a dicated which s' all. be of novel and improved constructibn, the same being durable, substantial, simple, compact, and inexpensive, as well as eilicient, serviceable and convenient in its use.
. vention herein disclosed the bight or bend 2 A further object of the present invention is to provide a double sheave block, between the sheaves of which the cable, falls or tackle may pass so as to be in operative engagement with one or the other or both of the sheaves at all times, the jumping of the cable from the sheaves and the binding of the cable being eliminated.
With the foregoing and other objects in.
view which will appear as the description proceeds, the invention resides'in the'combination and arrangement of parts'and in the details of construction hereinafter described and claimed, it being understood that changes in the precise embodiment of the in- V can be made within the scope or" what is claimed without departing, from the spirit of the-invention.
The invention has been illustrated in its preferred embodiment in the accompanying drawings, whereinz- Figure 1 is a perspective view of the block. Fig. 2 is a central transverse section. Referring specifically to the drawing, the improved block embodies a strap 1 of suitable metal doubled to provide a pair of arms, being reduced in' order Specification of Letters Patent. Application filed March 1, 1913.

that a shackle, hook or other member may be readily attached thereto, and the ends of the strap or arms thereof, beingconnected by the bolt 3. pair of complementary sheaves or grooved ulleys at are journaled between the arms of the strap by means of the bolts 5, and their peripheries are in close relation. Lips from the edges of the strap to engage the heads of thebolts to lock the bolts against turning.
The arms of the strap are straight and guards or strips 7 are attached to the arms of the strap between the sheaves, the said guards having intermediate outstruck otfsets 8 fitting overthe arms. The ends of the guards are disposed adjoining and tangentlal relative to the sheaves and extend to each side so as to retain the cable, falls or tackle in proper operative relation with the sheaves. The guards 7 also prevent the cables from binding. members 9 are engaged through the arms of the strap and the olfsets 8 to retain the guards in position.
The present block'may be emplo ed,;for divers purposes, it being noted that t e cable' in being passed between the sheaves may be properly guided the ehy, the cable being continually in opera ive engagement with .one or the other or both of the sheaves.
Having thus described the invention, what is claimed as new is In a device of the double strap, a pair of sheaves journaled between the arms thereof, and having their peripheries in close relation, and. laterally disposed guards secured to the arms of the Rivets or securing character described, a
strap intermediate the sheaves with their ends arranged adjoining and the sheaves.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing tangential to as my own, I have hereto affixed my signa-' ture in the presence of two witnesses.
GEORGE W. FLOYD.
