To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, EDWARD N. CLINcI-I- ARD, a citizen of the United States, residing at Sedro VVoolley, in the county of Skagit and State of lVashington, have invented new and useful Improvements in Dental- Appliance Holders, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to dental appliance holders, the object in view being to provide a convenient device for domestic use adapted to hold tooth brushes and receptacles for tooth powder and tooth wash or dentifrice in liquid form, the device also embodying means for effecting a reliable discharge of either of the tooth wash or powder from their respective receptacles, and the device as a whole being adapted to be supported upon a side wall, or a table or like support.

With the above and other objects in view, the invention consists in the construction, combination and arrangement of parts, as will be hereinafter more fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings, and pointed out in the claim hereunto appended.

Inthe drawings: Figure 1 is a vertical section of the holder taken through the powder and liquid receptacles. Fig. 2 is a side elevation thereof, showing a slightly difierent form of holder.

The holder contemplated in this invention comprises essentially a shelf 1, extending upward from which is a back or base 2 provided with a hole 3 adapting the same to be hung upon a nail or like support, driven into a side wall. Arranged in the front of the back 2 are tubular receivers or holders 4 for tooth brushes, the same being connected to the back and extending downward as far as the shelf 1, upon which the lower ends thereof rest. The shelf 1 is provided with apertures 5 and 6, in which are removably fitted liquid and powder receptacles 7 and 8, respectively. Each of said receptacles is provided with a flange or shoulder 9, to prevent the holder from sliding through the shelf 1, and also to enable such holder or receptacle to be readily removed, when neces sary to refill the same with liquid or powder.

The liquid receptacle is provided in the bottom thereof with a small discharge opening 9 which is normally closed by a valve 10 formed by the lower end of a stem 10 which extends upward through the receptacle and out through an opening in the top 11 thereof. The stem is normally held depressed by means of a spring 12 coiled around the stem within the receptacle, and said stem is adapted to be elevated by means of a small finger lever 13, which is fulcrumed on the top of the liquid receptacle, one arm of said lever passing through a slot 141 in the upper end of the stem which projects above the liquid receptacle. The top of the liquid receptacle is provided with an opening 15, through which said receptacle may be filled.

The powder receptacle is provided with a removable cap or top 16, and in order to insure the discharge of the powder, said receptacle is provided in the bottom thereof with aslot 17, and just above the slot the lower end of the powder receptacle is provided with a downwardly contracting pocket 18, in which is arranged a rotatable ejector 19, the same comprising any desired number of rotating blades 20, and the ejector as a whole being mounted upon a shaft 21 j ournaled in opposite sides of the receptacle and extending to a point beyond the edge of the shelf 1, where said shaft is provided with a thumb wheel 22, by means of which the shaft may be turned, thereby loosening the powder in the bottom of the receptacle and forcing the same through the discharge opening in the bottom thereof.

Under each of the liquid and powder receptacles, there is arranged an apron 23, so as to catch any surplus material that overflows from the tooth brush held under the receptacles to receive a charge of dentifrice either in liquid or powder form.

The device as hereinabove described is especially designed for a wall fixture. In order to adapt the same to be supported upon a table or other horizontal support, the frame of the holder, which will ordinarily be made of sheet metal. is extended downward to form a front wall 24: at the front of the shelf 1 and then extended backward to form a single apron 25 which extends under both of the dentifrice receptacles, then upward, as shown at 26, where it is connected in any convenient manner to the back 2 of the holder. An aperture 27 of considerable size is formed in the downwardly extending front wall to serve as an observation slot, through which the operator may observe the amount of powder or liquid deposited on the tooth brush held beneath the receptacles.

What is claimed is:

A holder of the class described, the body of which is formed of a sheet bent to provide a vertical supporting back, a shelf extending horizontally therefrom, a front wall extending downwardly from the front of said shelf, a bottom extending horizontally backward from said front wall, and a vertical extension connecting said bottom with said shelf in line with the vertical support ing back, the said front wall being apertured and the shelf beingformed with openings therein to receive dispensing receptacles.
