Description

GXW. REISINGER.
Corn Sheller.
| Il 'l N.FETER3. PHOTO-LITHDGRAPNER, WASHNGTON D C datiert 551mm WILLIAM AI MIDDLE'ION, OF SAME PLAGE.
Letters Patent No. 107 ,410, dated September 13, 1870.
IMPROVEMENT IN CQRN-SHELLERS.
The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part of the same.
To all whom tt may concern.-
Beit known that I, GEORGE W. RErsmGEn, of Harrisburg, in the county of Dauphin and in the State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvementsiu Corn-Sheller; and do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact descripl tonthereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawing and to the letters of reference marked there on making a part of this specification.
The nature of my invention consists in the con# A represents a cap-box, of cylindrical form,l snpported by a standard or post, B, or its equivalent.` Inside of the cap-box A is a.ho1low revolving journal, C, provided with two cranks, D D', projecting in Y'oppositedirections, one from each end of the journal,
as shown in iig. 1.
At the front end of the journal C are formed the shelling-teeth a a.- A
One, a', of said teeth is made to slide 011 the crank D by means of a spiral spring, b, forcing it inward for the purpose of adjust-ing itself lto any-sized ear of corn. Around the shelling-teeth, on the fron-t end of :the
journal, is a detachable ringG,-w'ith ila-ring mouth,
which prevents 'the corn from scattering in shelling, and which can easily be removed,'in,order to sharpen the teeth when worn downy by use.
The ear of corn is held by the left hand and pushed through the, toothed side while thegcrank D is vbeing revolved bythe right hand. When the cob is nearly through, the hands are changed, the left handtaking hold of' the crank D', and the right hand ofthe cob.
Having thus fully described my invention,
That I claiuias new, and desire to secure by Let tersAPatent, isy 1. The hollow journal O, provided with teeth, a a., and cranks jD D', substantially as and for the purposes` herein set forth.
2. The combination of the hollow journal C, cranks v D D', teeth a a, sliding tooth a', and spring b, all constructed and arranged 4to operate substantially as and for the pnrposesherein set forth. f
3. In combination with the hollow-toothed journal 0, the detachabley ring G,-constructed as described,
and for the purposes set forth.
4. The combination ofthe cap-box A, hollow-toothed journal G, cranks'D D', sliding tooth a', and ring G, all constructed and arranged as described, to op. crate substantially in the manner and for the purposes herein setforth.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing, I have hereunto set my hand this 27th day of May, 1870. GEORGE W. REISIN GER. Witnesses:
