peculiar formation of the ears of the doll,
and the manner in which they are connected to the sections of the head.
A still further object of the invent-ion is generally to improve this class of devices, so as to increase their utility, durability and efiiciency.
Further objects and advantages will appear in the followin description, it being understood that various changes in form, proportions and minor details of construction may be resorted to within the scope of the appended claims.
For a full understanding of the invention and the merits thereof, reference is to be had to the following description and accompanying drawings, in which:
Figure 1 is a perspective view of a doll embodying the present invention; Fig. 2 .is a similar view, looking at the rear of the doll; Fig. 3 is a detail sectional view through one of the ears of the doll.
Corresponding and like parts are referred to in the following description and indi-- cated in all the views of the drawings by the same reference characters.
The improved doll forming the subject ,matter of the present invention is constructed from a pattern or blank formed of cloth, fabric or other suitable material, and comprises a breast or front piece 5, made'in two sections, and a back piece 6, also preferably made in two sections.
The head of the doll comprises a face section 7 and back section 8, the latter being formed'in two parts and connected with the face section byside head sections 9. The lower ends of the side head sections 9 are reduced at 1'0 and secured to the face section 7 and adjacent breast sections 5 to form the neck of the doll, while the back'head sections 8 are secured to each other andto the upper edges of the adjacent back sections 6.
he ears of the doll are each preferably' formed in two sections' ll, the outer edges of the sections comprising each ear being stitched or sewed at 12 and the inner edges thereof separated at 13 and inserted betweenthe face section 7 and the adjacent side head sections 9. The material forming the sections of each ear is referably folded at 14 to imitate the lobe of a natural ear, the same row of stitching which secures the face'section 7 to the side head sections 9, serving toretain the ear sections in head of the doll.
Having thus described the invention, what is claimed as new is:
1. A cloth doll including a body-portion, a head secured to the body-portion and including sections stitched together at the sides of the head, and ear sections each formed in two pieces having their peripheral edges partly united, the separated edges of the ear sections being interposed between the sections of the head and secured therebetween by the stitchin uniting the said sections at the, side of the ead.
2. A cloth doll including a body-portion, a head secured tothe body-portion and including sections stitched together at the sides of the head, and ear sections each formed in two pieces having their eripherai edges partly united, theseparate the ear sections beinginterposed between the sections of the head and secured therebetween by the stitching uniting the said sections at the side of the head, the said ear sections being each folded along a diagonal line and stitched beneath the fold to one of the said head sections.
