IMPROVEMENT IN SHAFT-COUPLING.
The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part of the same.
To all who-m it may concern Be itI known that I, SETE H. Wnrrnonn, of Decatur, in the county otl Macon and in the State of Illinois, have invented certain new and usefulvImpros-'ements in Coupling for Shafts; and do hereby declare that the following is afulhcletu, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawing and to the letters of reference marked thereonniaking a part of this specification.
The nat-ure ot' my invention consists in the construction and arrangement ot' an improved coupling for shafts, as will beherein'after fully set forth.
v1n order to ena-ble others skilled in the art to which my invention appertains to make anduse the saine, I will now proceed to describe its construction and operation, referring to the annexed drawing, in which- Figure l is a. side View of two shaftsjoined to- `gether by.my coupling.
Figure 2 is a. similar View ofthe shafts, wit-h a longitudinal vert-ical section of the coupling.
Figure 3 is ari/"end View of the coupling.
A A represent the ends of two shafts coupled towhich is fitted the outer sleeve C, or nut, haring a screw on its inner peripherythe same taperas that on the outside ot' thc inner sleeve.
When thus fitted it; will not;` open or close, but by cuttingr n slot from end to cud through the inner sleeve B, as shown in figs. 1 and 3, it. can beI closed down on the shafts by turning the nut or outer sleeve up onto the screw which holds the shaft firmly and in line. v

What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patenti, is-
The combination of the shafts A A, pins D D, and lthe inner and outer sleeves B O, all connected together substantially as set; forth.
