UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
JANOS BARTL, 0F HAMBURG, GERMANY.
ALARM DEVICE.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, J ANos BARTL, a subject of the German Emperor, and resident of Hamburg, Germany, have invented a certain new and useful Improvement in Alarm Devices, of which the following is a speci fica't'ion.
The article of manufacture forming the subject of the present invention is an alarm device of simple construction which may be carried in the pocket or may be attached to suitable articles which are not to be touched by unauthorized persons.
This device consists of a foldable case in which are arranged one or more spring ac tuated members and which on the article to which they are attached being touched or opened, spring out and release these merrbers which then give an alarm.
One embodiment of the invention is shown in the accompanying drawings in Figure 1 in section in closed position and in Fig. 2 in side elevation in open position. Fig. 3 is a plan of Fig. 2.
As shown in the drawing the device consists of a foldable case ab on the one inner side of which are arranged three spring actuated members 0 and touch pans The members 0 are controlled by springs (Z and for the purpose of giving an alarm are brought into the position shown in Fig. 1 and are held in this position by closing the case (t -l). In this closed position the device can be in serted in a purse or the like or can be laid beneath an article which is not to be touched or lifted or removed by unauthorized per- Specification of Letters Patent.

sons. The sides of the case are then held closed only by the purse or the like into which the device is introduced or only by the weight of the article under which it is laid. On the article being opened or removed the springs (Z controlling the mem bers 0 cause the sides to fly apart immediately whereby the members 0 are released and according to their length strike one after the other on the touch pans f which are provided with percussion caps or the like and give an alarm.
The case aZ may be shaped externally as desired while any number of spring actuated members may be employed. The device described may also be used as a toy.
Having described my invention what I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States is An alarm device comprising in combination with a foldable case, a plurality of spring actuated members hinged to one side of said case, said members being of different lengths, and a plurality of touch pans located on the same side of said case each touch pan arranged in the path of movement of each of said spring actuated members as and for the purpose set forth.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
