FASTENEE FOR BUTTONS AND ANALOGOUS OBJECTS.
To all whom it may concern.
Be it known that I, JEAN RonoLrriE GUIno Sinonrs'r, a citizen of the Swiss Republic, and resident of Neuilly-sur-Seine, Seine, France, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Fasteners for Buttons and Analogous Objects, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to buttons, and more particularly to the means for securing the button to a garment.
The prime object of the invention is to provide means whereby the button parts may be quickly and conveniently assembled and fastened to the garment.
The invention also relates to improvements in the details of construction and arrangement of parts which will be hereinafter described and particularly pointed out in the claims:
In the drawings: Figure 1 is a transverse section of a button constructed in accordance with my invention. Fig. 2 is a similar view, but illustrating the parts in position before the prongs of the staple are finally folded. F 3 is a detail view of the staple.
In the drawings, 1 indicates the body portion of a button, having its edges rolled to provide an int urned flange 2. The center of the body portion is bulged inwardly to form a seat 3, and in the center thereof is an opening 4. Located on the upper surface of the seat 3. is a bendable rotating plate formed with an opening 6, which registers with the opening t in the seat 3, and fitting loosely within the seat 3, is a hollow cap member '7.
The numeral 8, indicates a fastening device comprising a head 9, and, two pointed prongs 101().
In assembling the button, the prongs 10, are passed through the cap member 7, and the opening (3, in the bendable head 5 as shown in dotted lines in Fig. The body portion 1 and the head 9 of the fastening device are firmly drawn together to securely clamp the fabric, then the prongs are bent mitwardly in opposite directions, as shown in full lines in Fig. 2, to preliminarily clamp the button and fastening device together. Vhile the prongs are in this position, the free bendable end of the bendable plate 5, is bent over the spread out prongs,

and then the latter are rebent to embrace the bent portion of the plate 5, which provides effective means for permanently se-- curing the body portion and the fastening device together on the garment.
After the parts are assembled as described, a finishing cap 12, provided with a base bead 13, is forced on the body portion. The bead 13, is pressed toward the flange 2, and the two elements are locked together.
A button constructed as described is simple, and the means employed to fasten the parts together insures of a. positive interlocking connection, and one which is not liable to break, or get out of order. The cap 7, affords means for permitting the but ton turning freely on the prong, so that any twisting or pulling on the button will not tear the parts from the fabric.
What I claim is 1. A button comprising a body portion formed with a single opening, a bendable rotating plat-e adapted to be connected to the body portion, said bendable plate having a single opening which registers with the single opening in the body portion, the bendable portion being bent to lie across the plane of the registering openings, a fastening device provided with a plurality of prongs, all of which extend through the registering openings and which are oppositely bent around the bent portion of the plate.
2. A button comprising a body portion formed with a central concave seat, in the center of which is formed a single opening, a hollow cap having a convex portion which {its in the concave seat, a bendable rotating plate adapted to be connected to the body portion, said bendable plate having a single opening which registers with the single opening in the body portion, and being bent to lie across the plane of the registering openings, at fastening device provided with a plurality of prongs, all of which extend through the hollow cap and the registering openings and which are oppositely bent around the bent portion of the plate.
