The' Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and ma'king peut of the same I, Jol-1N 11. PIEHL, ot thecity of' Richmond,county of Wayne and State of Indiana, have invented certain Improvements in School-Desks, of which the following isa specification.
Nature and Object of the I iwcution.
My invention consists .in.providiug a school-desk and seat with a clamp-hinge, or a hinge provided with 'a clamp, so that the clamp may be screwed tight against4 the hinge, for the purpose of' holding the desk morefirmly, and to produce a more permanent hinge. A

The end of the hack board B should butt up against the upright A, and be secured bymeans of the ears P, which are on the back of the upright A.
I am aware of the patents of A. E. Roberts, dated January 11, 1870, and D. H. Nation, May 18, 1869, and the devices therein found I do not wish to claim; but
What I do claim as my improvement in .school-desks, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
1. In combination with the standards A A, and
, pieces M, or pieces C, the pins I and O, clamps G, v
jam-nuts H, and lugs K, forming the joints Q,allcon structed and arranged as herein described.
2. In combination with a schoolrlesk constructed as herein described, theears P, and braces L, for the purpose specified.
