To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that we, ADoLrH VERNER and VVILLIAM H. FETTER, citizens of the United States of America, residing at Turtle Creek, in the county of Allegheny and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Collar-Buttoning Devices, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawing.
This invention relates to a collar button ing device, and the prinfary object of our invention is to facilitate the wear of a collar in opening stiftly-starched button holes and placing the button hole ends of a collar upon a collar button.
Another object of this invention is to provide a buttoning device that is simple in construction, durable and highly eflicient for the purposes for which it is intended.
A further object of our invention is to provide a buttoning device that can be swung at any desired angle relatively to the collar button thereby facilitating the placing of the button hole end of a collar upon a collar button.
e attain the above objects by a mechanical construction that will be hereinafter specifically described and then claimed, and reference will now be had to the drawing, wherein Figure 1 is a perspective View of the device as applied to a collar button, Fig. 2 is an enlarged elevation of the device as ap plied to a button. Fig. 3 is a similar view of a detached device. Fig. 4 is an end of the same, and Fig. 5 is an enlarged cross sectional view of the device taken on the line 'v-o of Fig. 5.
A device in accordance with this invention is made of a single piece of material, as German silver or other metal, the device being made from a blank that tapers from one end thereof to the opposite end. The blank is rolled to form a hollow tapering body 1 resembling a pin. The material at the small end of the body is bent or reamed to provide a closed rounded end 2, andthe material at the opposite end of the body is Specification of Letters'Patent.

To limit the movement of the large end of the body upon the head 4, the large end of the body is provided with two inwardly projecting oppositely disposed teats 11 and 12. The teats 11 and 12 are located at the inner ends of the slots 3, the teat 11 forming part of one of the arms 6, and the teat 12 a part of the other arm 6. These teats engage the periphery of the collar button head 4 and limit the movement of the device upon the button head to that extent that the arms 6 snugly embrace the head and guide the button hole ends 13 of a collar 14 on to the button. The teats are formed by depressing the material of the arms.
