WILLIAM R. MOORE, OF WINDBER, PENNSYLVANIA.
' RADIATOR-COVER.
R. MooRE,
` residing at Windber, in the county of Somerset and Stateof Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Radiator-Covers, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawing.
This invention relates to a radiator' cover, and the primary object of my invention is to provide an extensible or adjustable cover that can be easily and quickly mounted upon the top of a radiator orother heating me-l dium to arrest upward passage of dust or dirt which is caused to rise from heated air placedY in circulation by the radiator.
Another object of this invention is to provide an extensible radiator cover that will serve many purposes, among which may be mentioned that of a level and uninterrupted support for matter that can be placed upon the radiator and heated thereby, as clothes.
A further object of this invention is to provide an adjustable radiator cover thatis inexpensive-to manufacture, easy to'place in position and highly efficient for the purposes for which it is intended.
a I attain the above objects by a mechanical construction that will be hereinafter specifically described and then claimed, and ref-` erence will now be had to the drawing, wherein# Figure l is an end View of a portion of a radiator provided with the cover, and Fig. 2 is a side elevation of the cover.
A radiator cover yin accordance kwith this invention comprises two inverted channelshapedtelescopic sections l and 2 made of light' and durable sheet -metal finished to harmonize-with the finish 'of a radiator 3.,
The sectionl has the side walls 4 `thereofI Specification of Letters Patent. `Patented May 27, 19-13 Application led December 18,l 1912. Serial No. 737,478.
provided with inwardly projecting flanges 5 serving as guides for the walls 6 of the section 2, whereby the section 2 can be shifted longitudinally of the sect-ion 1 to increase'or cover. i
The side walls 4 of the sectionel, adjacent to oneend thereof, are provided with apertured earsl 7 and 8. Connected to the apertured ear 7 is a chain 9 or .other flexible connectionthat can be detachably connected to a hook 10 carried "by the aperturedv ear 8. After the cover 'has been placed upon the top of the radiator 3 and adjusted to't thereon, the chain 9 can be carried between the sections ofthe radiator and .connected to the hook l0to prevent the cover from ,becoming accidentally displaced..
y It is thought that the vutility of my inven- `tion will be apparent without further-description and I would have it understood to such variations as fall within the-scope of the appendedclaim.
What I claim is In an extensible cover for radiators, inverted channel-shaped telescopic sections, one of said sections having the walls thereof WILLIAM' R. MOORE.
