PORTABLE HAND ELECTRIC LAMP.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented May 20, 1913.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ADoLPH C. BECKER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Oakville, in the county of Litchfield and State of Connecticut, have invented a new and useful Improvementin Portable Hand Electric Lamps; and I do hereby declare the following, when taken in connection with the accompanying drawings and the characters of reference marked thereon, to be a full, clear, and exact description of the same, and which said drawings constitute part of this application, and represent, in-
Figure 1 a side view partly in section of a portable hand electric lamp constructed in accordance with my invention. Fig. 2 an underside view of the same, showing the Fig. 3 a top or plan view showing the arms extended. Fig. 4 a sectional view on the line ab of Fig. 1.
This invention relates to an improvement in portable hand electric lamps, the object being to provide a simple construct-ion for holding an electric lamp for moving about from one place to another and conveniently suspending the same when desired; and the invention consists in the construction hereinafter described and particularly recited in the claim.
In the usual construction of port-able hand electric lamps, a wooden handle, is employed in the outer end of which the lamp is mounted.
In carrying out my invention, I employ a cup 2 struck up from sheet metal and preferably polished so as to form a reflector. This cup is provided in the bottom with a tubular neck 3 in which an electric lamp 1 may be mounted, the lamp standing with 1n the cup 2. Surrounding this neck is a collar 5 formed with a plurality and preferably three, of integral sockets 6. Pivoted in each socket is an arm 7. These arms are bowed so that when drawn'together they will form a convenie'nthand grip. Preferadapted to be snapped over the ends of the other arms so as to connect them together. This ring not only forms a means of connecting the several arms together, but pro vides convenient means for suspending the lamp when it is desired to hang it upon a hook or other device when not in use. The relative position of thesockets and the form of the outer ends of the arms is such that the arms may be extended'forming a tripod to support the lamp.
I claim A portable hand electric lamp comprising a holder, a plurality of arms hinged at one end to the back of said holder, the outer end of one of saidarms formed with a perforation, and a ring extending through said arm and adapted to be snapped over the outer ends of the other arms when they are brought together.
In testimony whereof,I have signed this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
ADOLPH O. BECKER.
