To all whom it may; concern;

Be it. known that, I, THOMAS P. FoRMAN, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Waterbury, in the countyof' New Haven andv State of Connecticut, have invented, a new and Improved Necktie-Case, of which the following is a, full, clear, and. exactdescription.

This invention relates toim-provements in necktie cases, and has for an, objectto provide an improved structure whichis adapted to be folded so that the respective ties will face each other and all the ties be covered when the case is closed,

Another object of the invention is to provide an improved case formed with folders or retaining members having spring-pressed portions designed to press against the ends of folded neckties for holding the same properlyin the case.

In carrying out the objects of the inven:

tion, a case is provided'formed from any desired kind of material, and arranged to lie fiat when in an unfolded condition. Arranged at spaced intervals at each side of the case are spring-pressed clamping members designed to clamp ties to the back or body portion of the case. These clamping members are so arranged that the ties may be caused to be arranged in sets or pairs when the case is folded or closed.

A practical embodiment of the invention is represented in the accompanying drawings forming a part of this specification, in which similar characters of reference indicate corresponding parts in all the views.

Figure 1 is a perspective View of an embodiment of the invention, the same being shown partly closed; Fig. 2 is a longitudinal vertical section through an embodiment of the invent-ion while in the closed position; Fig. 3 is an end view of an embodiment of the invention, the same being shown partially open and the respective parts spaced slightly apart for the purpose of illustration; Fig. 4 is a longitudinal vertical sec tion through one of the tie supporting braces and clamping extension associated therewith; Fig. 5 is a perspective view of a slightly modified form of the invention, the same being shown open; Fig. 6 is a fragmentary view through Fig. 5, partially on the line 6-6; Fig. 7 is a view similar to Fig. 6 except that the same shows the device in an open position; and Fig. 8 is an end view of the structure shown in Fig. 4.

Referring tothe. accompanying drawings by numerals, 1 indicates the body portion of a case which may be formed of cloth, leather, or other material, as desired. The

body portion 1 is formed with

2 and 3, and a flap 4. The body portion 1 is preferably made from a double layer of-material, though this is not absolutely necessary. Connected to the body portion 1 are a plurality of stifi supporting or bracing members 5 which may be covered with any desired material. The members 5 are preferably made from metal and have their ends turned up forming ears 6 and 7 (Fig. 8) ,for receiving a pintle 8., -A clasping extension 9! is also provided formed with a projecting portion 10 having depending ears; 11 and 12 throughwhich the pintle 8 extends. This pintle connects the bracing members 5 and the clamping extension 9 together. In order to cause the clamping extension or plate 9 to i press against the bracing members 5, or have a tendency to press against the bracing members 5, a spring 13 is wound around the pintle 8 and formed so that its ends will project through or be secured to the extension 9 and bracing member 5, as clearly shown in Fig. 4. A clamping member 9 is formed at each end of the bracing members 5 so as to engage the respective ends of the necktie 14.

17 and 18 are folded together face to face so that the neckties arranged therein will be in contact and the neckties in section 15 will be facing upward, as shown in Fig. 1. After the case has been folded to the position shown in Fig. 1, a pivotal movement of all of the

15, 16, 17 toward the section 18 will cause the correct folding of the case. After this has been done the end 3 is moved to its correct position and the flap 4 is folded over so that the clasping stud 19' may be used for securing the case in a closed position, a suitable socket being provided for accommodating the stud 19.

16 and 17 are designed to be folded together which will cause the face of section 18 to be uppermost. After this is done the case is folded again so that the upper face of section 15 will be in contact with the face of section 18.

Connected to the side portion 3 is a pad or strip of cloth or other material 23, held in place by lines of stitching or otherwise if desired. This pad or strip of cloth 23 is designed to receive one or more stick pins 24 or other similar articles. It will be noted that as the stick pin 24 is arranged on the side the same will not in any way come in contact with the neckties so as to injure or displace the same.

Having thus described my invention I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent In a necktie case or holder a body portion, a plurality of spaced stiffening members arranged in said body portion and extending entirely across the body portion, each of the said stiffening members having a pair of turned up ears at each end, a clamping plate arranged at each end of each of said stiffening members formed with turned down ears co-acting with the ears of said stiffening members,.a pintle at each end of each of said stiifening members for connecting said clamping plate therewith, and a spring acting on each of said clamping plates and on each of said stiffening members for causing the clamping plate to tend to press against said stiffening members whereby the article placed in said holder will be held therein rictionally.
