Lehrers Patent N0.- 1o6,172, @managen 9, 1870.
'I IMPRQVEMENT IN MAHINES PoR BENDING cLEvrs AND ,STIRRUPS The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part of the same.
Bending-Machines for th purpose' of 'bending plowclevisesf stirrups,-.chainfliuks, and other.: similar artioles,\ot' which the following is a specification.
- This invention consists inthe construction and arrangement of parts, as heieinafter'more f ully described and claimed.
The machine iscolnpos'ed ot a east-iron plate, to the =f: icc ot` 'w hich isrsecured, the proper forms for bending any desired shape, the center form of which gissecured to the` plate by means of'a bolt, so as to be Aeasily changedwhen necessary to bend Aother forms,
while the outside levers or forms are secured to the plate by screw-boltsthrough the ends, on which they are -lnade to turn, in? order to open out, and also to closeup against the centerform as the ironie/bent.
These forms areoperated by means of pinssecurely fastened in'a'side plate, immediately under the mainV plate, the ends of which pins are made to extend up 'entlyto enter. another similar slot in the lever forms.
The vlast-named slots in the lever forms are cut at an 'angle of about thirtydgreesy'more or less, as the `:nature ot' the work mayreqnire it', so that, when "placed in theirfproper position, the angleof the slots will-'be re\'ersed,ibrming a double inclined plane 'or wedge, acted on by the pins of the slide-plate below, which passes up through the slot, and by means of which the forms are forced together against 'the iron as the slide-plate is drawn out in operating the machine, -which is done by a hand-lever for that purpose.v
Havingthus fully explained thel natur'e ot' my. in-
" vention, a more minute description may be seen 'by reference to the drawing.
