Jamestown, inthe county of Chautauqua. and in the State` of N ew York, have invented certain new and' usei'ul Improvements in Clothes-Racks; and do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the aecom- Hpanying drawing and to the letters of reference marked tl1ereon,making a part of this specification.
The nature of my invention 'consists in the'com -struetion and Varralrqement of a folding clothesrack, as will be hereinafter fully set forth'.

This back is suspended from'v anaii in the wall, passing through a hole in the center, near its upper edge, and kept from` moving s'dewise by--means of another. nail.- passingthrough the center, near its lower edge. i v
At a suitable point on the ,front side of' the back A is hinged a shelf, B, which, when turned down horizontally, rests upon a bracket, C,att-ached,to the back.
VOn the. upper side ofthe shelf B is `pivoted a number of' bars or arms, D D.
The inner pivoted ends of these'bars are arranged on the shelf in Vsh'ape, as shown Ain fig. 2,v so that they can he spread outward-f'rom the center each way.
When closed or `folded together, these bars are turned up withtlle shelf B, and the shelf fastened to the back A by means ofa hook, E.
The upper edge of 'the hack A is formed, as shown in iig. 3, so asto fit the bars D D when closed. 'Having thus fully described my invention, What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, isv g -The combination of th'e back A, shelf B, bracket C, and bars or arms D D, all constructed and arranged as shown and described..
