REFRIGERATOR SHOW-CASE.

This invention relates to improvements in refrigeratorl show cases.
The invention consists in the construction and arrangement of parts, as will be hereinafter described and particularly pointed out in the claim.
In the accompanying drawings :--Figure 1 is a front View of a refrigerator show case constructed in accordance `with the invention; Fig. 2 is an end view of one end of the i same; Fig. 3 is a vertical sectional view on the line 3 3 of Fig. 2; Fig. 4 is a vertical cross sectional view of the ice box on the line 4 4 of Fig. 1; Fig. 5 is a similar view on the line 5-5 of Fig. 3.
Referring more particularly to the drawings, 1 denotes the ice box or bunker of my improved refrigerator, said box being supported at a suitable elevation by a support- .ing frame 2 whereby the box will be in an out of the way position and will not take up space which might be otherwise more advantageously employed. The box l is provided with a concave bottom 3 and ice racks 4. Connected with the concave bottom of the box is a series of cold air and water discharging pipes 5, said pipes being supported by hangers 6 secured to the box as shown. Vith the upper portion of the box is connected a warm air return pipe 7. In one end of the box is arranged a filling door 8 over which is arranged a beam 9 for connecting a hoisting block and tackle whereby the box is supplied with ice.
Arranged at any suitable position below the ice box 1 is a show case 10 which may be of any suitable construction and which may be supported on legs as shown or may rest on a table or counter. The show case has its front, and ends formed of glass panels. The top of the box is formed of stationary glass panels 11 and hinged 'glass panels 12. The hinged panels 12 form doors and are hinged at their lower edges and provided at their Specification of Letters Patent.

Thetapering cold air and water discharge pipes form a very essential feature 0f the invention and it is evident that by their construction and realtion in respect to the show To the upcase 10, the cold air and water from the elevated ice box 1 will be forced with considerable pressure directly against the bottom of the show case, causing the same to be forced upwardly and properly distributed before the air which has been reduced in temperature returns to the ice box by way of the pipes 7. The pipes 5 terminate in slightly curved forwardly projecting ends which are disposed near t-he bottom of the show case between goods holding racks 17 arranged on the bottom of the case thus discharging the cold air and water into the lower part of the case.` Vhen thus discharged into the tank the waste water will pass out through a discharge pipe 18 arranged in the bottom of the case near one end as shown.
The lower end of the warm air return pipe 7 enters the top of the show case vmidway between its ends and terminates in the upper part of the same. The lower end of the pipe in the case is provided with a flaring mouth piece 19 whereby the warm air rising in the upper portion of the case will be collected and returned to the ice box to be recooled and again discharged into the case through the pipes 5.
From the foregoing description, taken in connection with the accompanying drawings, the construction and operation of the invention will be readily understood without requiring a more extended explanation,
4I-Iaving thus described my invent-ion what I claim is 4 A refrigeratorshow case comprising an elevated overhead ice box having a show case spaced therefrom and forming an adj acent part thereof, cold air and water pipes having their upper ends connected to the bottom of the ice box, hangers secured to the bottom of the latter through which the pipes passand are supported, the lower ends of said pipes being inserted through the top of the show case and having their terminals tapered and curved forwardly and disposed near the bottom of the case, said ice box also having 'a warm air pipe connected at its upper end to the upper end of the ice box, said warm air pipe having itslower end connected to the show case, the upper and lower ends of the warm air pipe being constructed funnel shape, whereby the accumulated warm air in the show case passes upwardly through the warm air pipe and into the ice box where it is cooled and returned into the show case through the cold air and water pipes, and hinged doors forming the rear portion of the top of the show case and guided when raised and lowered by said pipes should the hinges become loosened.
