Be itknown that I, JosnrH- B. MOODY, of Louisville, in thecounty of Jefferson and State oi' Kentucky, have invented a new and valuable Improvement in -Cultivators; and l do here- `by declarethat the following is a iull, clear,

and exact description ofthe construction and operation of the same, reference being had to the annexed drawings,4 making a part of this speciticatien, and to the letters and iigures of reference marked thereon.

Figure 1 of thesdrawings is a representation o fa s ideviewot' my cultivator. Fig.2 is a top viewof the same. Fig. 3 isa rear view thereof.

Myinvention relates to means for cultivating growing plants; and it consists in a novel arrangement of devices intended to serve as valuable auxiliaries in that department of agjriculture.

A of the drawings represents the beam of my cultivator, and B the handles thereof. These handles are pivoted to the plow-beam at' their lower Or'front ends, While their rear ends are supported by and made adjustable in the bent and perforated arms D in the manner shown on'Fi'g. 1.-

The letter G represents two parallel bars 'pivoted under the plow-beam by means of the bolt a. Between these bars G, I pivot the front ends of the transverse beams of my cnltivatori plows, respectively, in the manner shown on the drawings by means of the bolts e. e

l.H represents. a rear cross. bar pivoted to the rear end of the main plow-beam by means of the bolt a. The rear ends of the cultivat-or' plow-beams are respectively pivoted to this cross-bar by means ofthe bolts s.

K yrepresents my cultivatorplows. They are constructed, respectively, with atransverse `justable by means of the screw z.

M represents a perforated bar pivoted to tht lower side of the main beam, and is connected with either end of the bars G by Ineanslof a bolt, c. l The Office of this perforated bar is to provide' lmeans for adjusting the bars G, and consequently the cultivator-plows, at any vdesired angle with the main beam. This is done by passing a bolt. @through such aperture in said bar as will secure rto the plows'the position desired.

1. The arrangement of the bars G, Hw, andvm, arms D, handles Bbeam A, and 'plows R,

when the several parts `are constructed as and for the purpose specified.

2. In a cnltivator, the arrangement of the plates P and d land clevis w, when constructed as shownand described.
