Specification of Letters Patent. i
ratentea Feb. ifs, 191e.
f Application led June -1, 1911.` Serial No. 6210,697l;V l
To all Iwhom t may concern: v Be it known that I, EDWARD A. EUS/rien,
lowa, have invented anew and useful Improvenient` .in Nringer-Sup'ports, of which the following is a specification.
rihe object of my invention is to' provide an attachment for a wringer support Iwhich may be so adjusted as to run-the water taken from the clothes in either direction, desired, and is particularly adapted for use 1 with a reversible wringer for returning the rinsing water to the rinsing tub. v
The wringer support and wringer which I employ are of the ordinary type, no-particular style or construction being necessary,'as my attachment vmay easily be secured to any standard construction.
My invention consistsl of certain details of construction, hereinafter set forth, pointed outi'n -my clailns, and illustrated in the accompanying drawings, inV which 1 Figure I shows a vertical sectional view `of a wringer and wringer support and my attachment .secured thereto, the dotted lines indicating the elevated position 'which the rear section of the attachment is designed to assume when desired; Fig. II shows a like view except that the' forward section of my attachment is shown in an elevated position; and Fig. III shows a perspective View of a wringer support ,fitted out with my attachment.A V- Referring tothe accompanying drawings the reference numeral -10 is used to indicate a portion of a washing machine to which a wringer support 11, may be'eith'er perma` nently or removably attached, said wringer and wringer support being of any ldesired standard type. `The cross piece l2 .of the wringerl support, to` which the wringer isl designed to be secured, is,'pre ferably, constructed of a strip of material provided with.
upwardly projectingend lugs, 13 and 1.4 respectively, each of which has a vertical inner face 15Iand 16 respectively.
My attachment is constructed of two sections 17 and 18, preferably sheet metal, hinged together, as shown at .19, the forward section being of greater length than the rearr section. Each of these sections is provided'with lupturned sides, as shown, and
the forward section is pivotally secured to the dcross piece 12, by means v'of pins, or the 1ike, pa ss1ng through orifices 1n their re-v spective upturned sides and being journaled 1n their respectivelugs 13v and 14.
i, From the foregoing description it is apparent that each section is mountedfor pivotal movement, the forward section from its bearings in the cross piece and the rear section from its hinged connections with the .forward section. The downward limit of movement of section 18 is determined by the base of the wringer support.
2A hold section 17 in raised position.v A. pin 21 1s secured to lug 14 and projects beyond ythe inner end of the latter to engage the adjacent side of the section 17 to limit the downward movement of the section as4 depicted in Fig. 3 of the drawings.
My device .is particularly adapted for use with a reversible wringer. Then the two sections are each in their normal positions, reclining downwardly, the water w'rung from the clothes will bel received by the rear section andV returned Vto the washing machine. When the wringer is reversed m op# eration, vand clothes are being taken 'from a rinsing tub, the rear section is elevated and the water discharged' from the clothes is received lon the rear section and runs for# wardly on same onto, and over, the forward section and is returned to the rinsing tub.
When clothes are beingl takenfrom thewashing machine the forward section of my devicev may, if desired, be. elevated and vserve as a means to receive the clothes'after they are wrung, the water,'obv1ously, being returned to the washing machine.
, Having thus described my invention what lI claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States is;
- 1. In combination, .with a support, havingspaced end lugs, a drip board composed of apair of-scctions, one of the sections being arranged in the space between said end lugs and beingv pivoted thereto, the other sectionhaving its inner end extending `beyond the inner end of the first named section and being hinged thereto, a pivoted finger carried by the support to 'engage the bottom of said first mentioned section to holdl the latter'in raised position, and a pin carried bythe supportto engage the'inner end of the first mentioned section -to limit the* .downward movement thereof.
2. InI combination with a support, a dripvboard composed of a' pair of sections, one
est
of the sectlons being pivotally connected bethe 'rst named section so that same will be tween its ends. to the support2 the other held with its inner end in overlapping resection havin its i1- r end prjecting over lation to the inner end of the second named and beyondte innlr en ddo the first namd section. l 5 secti0n, an ein inge etween-its en s .to said first namel section, the free'endpor- EDWARD A' EUSTICE'- tion of the second named section 'being for Witnesses: engagement with the support to restrict itsl D. N. CLARK,y v downward movement, and Ineansrto enga'ge JAY CLARK.`
