The invention further includes a series of resilient pads, located at spaced points along the garter 1, and extended inwardly, as shown in Fig. 1. Thefunction of these pads is to space the parts of the garter 1 apart from the leg, thereby preventing the cut' tiog oil of the circulation. The pads are ren'iovably and slidably held upon the garter 1, and they may be moved along upon the garter, in order to escape the arteries and veins.

In assembling the pads with the garter 1,

the carrying member comprising a body 10 is provided, the body 10 being curved at its upper end, as shown at ll'to define a hook 21. Fromthe hook 21, tongues-12 project- .inwardly, toward the body 1t), the tongues 12 being preferably struck from the hook 21. At its lower edge, the body 10 is equipped witha prong 15, and at the sides prongs 14, the prongs 1st and 15 being formed integrally with the body. Atits pointof bending 11, the body 10 is provided with an-opening 16, preferably of circular contour. This openof the body 10 there are other ing 16 weakens the body 1, so that it may be bent readily, to form a hook 21, this bond ing of the body being further facilitated by reason of the fact that the hooked portion 21 of the body is narrower than the body proper. The opening 16 is alined with the upper edges of the body proper 10. The prongs 14 are adapted to engage with a resilient pad 17. This pad 17 may he fash ioned from any desired material. It may consistof a plurality of layers 18 of felt or the like, the same being stitched together peripherally, as shown. at 19, -and 'diag0- nally, as showh at 20'. The prongs 14 and 15 engage with, oneor more of the lower layers of the pad 16, only, whereby the other layers of the pad serve to cover the prongs.

The carrying member hereinbefore de-' scribed, is preferably formed from a blank,

carrying member.

Having thus described the lnvention, whetis claimed is A device of the class described comprising a carrying member including a body provided at its upper end with a reduced tongue, beck-bent to fashion the/bill of the carrying member, there being a prong projecting inwardly from the tongue, toward the body of the carrying mei'nber, the carrying member having prongs upon its edges, overhanging the body of the carrying member; 21 flexible pad comprising a 'flurnlity of layers, secured together, certain of which layers are engaged by the lastninned prongs, the other layers covering the prongs the said prongs having inwardly projecting, barbs at their extremities.
