To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ROSARIO Gnnovnsn, a citizen of the United States, residing at Brewster, Putnam county, New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Shaving-Mugs, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.
This invention relates to an improved form of shaving mug which facilitates the maintenance of the mug in a sanitary condition and is productive of economy in the use of the soap.
A preferable embodiment of the invention is illustrated in the drawings, in which:
Figure 1 is a vertical section of a shaving mug embodying my invention, the soap being illustrated as seated therein. Fig. 2 is a top plan view of the mug shown in Fi 1.
l teferring to the drawings by numerals: 1 indicates a mug or a cup body provided with the usual handle 2. A stem portion 3 extends centrally and upwardly from the bottom of the mug body and is widened at its upper end to form a mounting or seat 4 for a soap cake 8. A retaining flange 5 is formed by extending upwardly the portion of the stem surrounding the seat or mounting 4 so that a soap cake seated upon the mounting 4 will be retained thereon against side displacement by this retaining flange. In order to securely hold the cake of soap on its seat, pointed projections 7 are preferably formed on the seat portion 4 of the stem.
The outer edge of the retaining flange 5 is spaced from the side walls of the body and the stem portion 3 beneath the seat poraccompanying tion 4 is undercut as at 6 to form with the bottom of the mug body, a liquid reservoir adapted to receive the liquid and suds resulting from the lathering operation. The seat portion being undercut to form this reservoir prevents the liquid from contacting with and dissolving the soap especially when the mug is laid aside after use. Furthermore the space between the retaining flange 5 and the sides of the mug body permits the insert-ion of a shaving brush between said flange and the sides of the mug so that the undercut portion 6 forming the liquid reservoir may be readily cleansed.
From the foregoing it will be seen that the soap mug comprising my invention is constructed to promote economy in the use of soap and to permit the maintenance of the mug in a sanitary condition. While I have shown a specific structural embodiment, various modifications thereof are possible within the spirit of the invention and ROSARIO GENOVESE.
