The objects kof my invention are to pr'ovide an improved form yof mop holder and wriiiger; to provide a mop Vhaving a cone struction adapting it peculiarly for combination with a` scrubbing device; to improve the elements'enteringinto the operation and supporting means of the mop head device; and to provide a scrubbing device having novel means for holding a scrubbing brush and peculiarly adapted for coperation with my novel mop heads and their' appurtenances. The invention will be described hereinafter in detail in connection with the illustrated example given as one vstructural einbodiinent of my invention. y l

The general description of the main elements is as follows: The main handle carries at its forward end a fixed mop head, and below the main handle is an auxiliary handle carrying a second mop head, the two heads being adapted to hold the ends of a mop ragof an;7 suitable form. The auxiliary handle normally held at its rear end by a latch and at an' intermediate point it has a'support in which the handle may reciprocate, to move the second headtoward and from the fixed head in washing the mop rag. the mop rag, to wring it. The securing means of the fixed head which fits the main handle is especially designed to receive the supporting arm of a brush-holding device comprising depending clamps adapted to detachabl'y'hold the A,scrubbing brush at a point in front of the ixed mop head.

In constructing the device in the .form illustrated, a. main handle 10 is pro-vided of suitable length, and carries at its forward end aA suitable fitting 11, carrying a fixed mop head 12. The fitting 11 may be in the form of a socket, as shown, into which the handle 10 extends and fits tightly, and the head proper 12 is lioined to the socket 11 by a downwardly and forwardly inclined fork 13, the forked forni of the member 13 constituting a skeleton frame for lightness. The mop head 1Q ranges transversely and has a depression or recess 14 in its top surface which receives the depending gripping rib 15 Lof a. clamp 1G, said clamp extending at its ends above .the top of the head 12, and receiving'screw studs 17 having wing nuts 18, for clamping the inop rag 19 in the depression or recess 14 beneath the gripping rib 15.. v

Below the main handle 10 is supported an auxiliary handle 20, having at its forward end the second mop head 21, which may be formed with a groove 22 and a clamp Q3 secured by studs t'and wing nuts 9 5 or their equivalents, in a manner similar to Vthe l corresponding clamp devices of `the xed head 19.. The bracket 26 depends from the under side of the socket 27, and comprises side arms that have bearings 28 that receive trunnions Q9 on a supporting block 30, said block having forward and rear bearings 31. rl`he rear end of the auxiliary handle 2O is provided with a locking. head 32, which receives a latch pin 33 on a latch 34, said latch having also, parallel with the latch pin 'a Yforwardly extending integral guide rod 35, which is provided with a compression spring 36, the arrangement being such that the. latch 34 may be pressed.rearwardly against the pressure of the spring 36, to withdraw the pin' from the locking headSQ of the auxiliary handle 20. Vhen the auxiliary handle is ,released from the hitch it may be reciprocated in the bearings 31, to move -on which .the bearings 31 are formed'is mounted to rock on its trunnions 29 to accommodate the movements of the rod 35, and make its manipulation convenient,4 so

that it need not be reciprocated in a direct line. Similarly the rod 2O is adapted to be ro-tated in the bearings 31 s o that the mop head 21 may be turned relatively to the fixed head 12, for twisting the rag 19, to wri'ng the same. The rod 34 has sliding movement in depending arm 38 of -a hanger 37 fitted on the handle 10, said arms bein apart as shown, to receive the lookingvhead 32 of the auxiliary handle 20. It will be observed that the head 32 constitutes a hand hold or grip for convenience in manipulating the auxiliary handle 20.

The brush-holder 40 is provided with a supporting arm 41 which seats on the top surface of' the socket 11 of the forward mop head .12, which socket is Aformed with an oblong bloc-k or lug 43 that fits a longitudinal slot 44 in thefarm 41 of the brush-holder, the block 43 having a' screw stud 42. The upper face of the arm 41 has a series of transverse notches 45, any one of which may receive a gripping block 48 of inverted V- shape, said block 48 being clamped against n the' arm 41 'by'a wind nut 47 on the screw stud 42. The arrangement is such that the arm 41 may be moved inward or outward spacedl The brush 39 is said movable jaw being adapted to be vopened Vor closed by the movement of a knurled nut 51 on a threaded rod 52, which 4has bearings atits ends in the upwardly able j aw 50 so that by turning the nut to the right or left thevjaw 5() is opened or closed.

Havingv 'thus described my invention, I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent,

1. In a mop, mop-holding means comprising a. main handle having a mophead, an auX- iliary handle having a mop head, a block mounted on the main handle to rock thereon and having bearings in which the auX- iliary handle may reciprocate and rock, a bracket inthe rear of 'said bearing, and a latch on said bracket for holding the auxiliary handle against movement.

2. In a mop, the combination of -a handle having au mop head, a depending bracket on said handle, a block mounted to rock on said.
