To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, ANTON Rrnecnn, a

citizen of the United States, residing at Baltimore city and State of Maryland, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Brush-Holders, of which the following is a specification.

My invention has relation to improvement in that class of brush holders which are formed with means for clamping and holding brushes at any desired angle for painting large surfaces in inaccessible laces and it has for its object simplicity 0 construc tion, convenience in use, and cheapness of manufacture.

The invention consists in the novel construction and combination of parts as will be hereinafter more in detail described, and the asserted novelty particularly and specifically pointed out in the appended claim.

I have fully and clearly illustrated my invention in the accompanying drawings in which Figure 1 is a perspective view of my invention assembled for use. Fig. 2 represents a rear end view of the holder for holding round handled brushes, and Fig. 3 represents a similar view adapted for holding flat handled brushes.

Similar letters of reference denote corresponding parts in the several figures.

Referring to the drawings, A designates a supporting handle for the brush holder.

B designates a U-shaped frame the lower ends of which are perforated.

C designates a centrally perforated cylindrical end member the said perforation alining with the perforations in the lower ends of the U-shaped frame B.

D, designates the upper end of the supporting handle which is connected to the end member 0 by means of a dowel not shown, the said end member and member 0 being operatively secured together by means of the pivot bolt E, and nut E.

F designates a bridge provided with a concaved or semi-circular lower portion f within which the central portion of the round handle of the brush is detachably seated, the upper surface of the bridge being also provided with spurs 7, 7, to prevent displacement of the brush handles when the Specification of Letters Patent.

brush is operated. The lower surface of bridge F is provided with a concave surface f corresponding in curvature to the cylindrical surface of the member C.

G designates an adjustable clamp which is likewise concaved upon its lower surface and corresponds with the concave in the upper surface of the bridge, and it is provided with an opening through which the extreme end of a screw is passed to allow it to bear against the brush handle as will be hereinafter explained.

H designates an adjustable screw which is passed through an opening formed centrally in the upper portion of the frame B and through a boss on said frame, the lower end of the screw bearing against the clamp which is adjusted toward or from the bridge as required. The screw H clamps the brush in position and at the same time clamps the frame in position on i the cylindrical end member C.

In Fig. 3 is shown the device in position for clamping a flat handle brush.

By such construction of my device as hereinbefore described, it will be obvious from the operation of the same, that one can set the brush at any angle desired. The parts are all of such construction consistent with strength and rigidity that my device will hold any ordinary brush handle; and are of the lightest construction. The sharp points on the front part of the bridge are of steel and are to prevent fiat brushes from slipping or displacement. There is also no danger of the slipping of the handle bridge upon the cylindrical end 0 on account of the large contact surface between the aforesaid members.

The invention is especially adapted to paint structural iron, water towers, roofs, floors, ceilings, and all places which are deemed inaccessible.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
