IMPROVED INsTEP-STRETCHER PoR Boo'rs ANDl SHOES.
The Schedule referred to in th'ese Letters Patent: and making part of the same` I, Moses B11LDiNG,`Of Hartford, county- Oi' Hartford and State of Connecticut, have invented certain Improvements in Instep-Stretchers, of which the followmg is a specicatiou.
Nature and Objects of the I nuention. My improvements consist in making thestretcher of a metal shell hinged together at the toe and open-l Description of the Accompanying Drawing.

Genefral Description. n
The letter et indicates the-upper part of themetal shell, and b the 10`we1,`botl1 hinged together at the toe. Upon the inside of the shell, from each side of the bottom part, rise the bearings c c, in which is hung, so as to turn freely, the cam al, which bearsl up against the upper part n.
At its lower-end the cam d is jointed by means of the connecting-bar e to'the screw-rod f, so as to allow-the rod to turn freely.
Upon this rod is a left-handed screw-thread, which runs in the swivel-nut s, which swivcl-nut is hung on bearings in the slot h..
At the'fnrther extremity of therod is the handle o for Operating it.
From the above description it is obvious hyturning the screw, the top part aA will be raised or lowered, as desired. f
