S. GERMAN. GLOVE PASTENER. APPLICATION FILED SEPT. 8, 1911.
Patented. Dec. ,17, 1.912.
UNITED s'rnrns PATENT ornrcn.
SOLOMON summit: or I Iivroiwrrnn,l MARYLAND. I
. Gnovnrnsrnnnn.
Specification of Application filed. September To alt fathom fit 'may concern `Be it known that I, SOLOMON GERMAN, a citizen of the United States, lresiding at Unionville, in the county of Frederick and State of. Maryland, have invented certain economy in construction, and at the same time ease and perfection 1n operation.
With these' objects inl view, the invent-ion consists in ai fastener 4Oi this class embodyf ing` the improved construction, arrangement Vandcombinati'on of parts which will be more s fully 'described and afterward speciically l lin connection with the accompanying elevation. Fig. 2iis a similar claimed.
In order that the invention may bereadily understood, it will be specically desc'libed awings which illustrates va preferred embodiment and in 'which- -Figure 1 is a sectional viewy taken on the line 1--1 of Fig. 3. .parts beingshown in view with the and Fig. 3- is a parts in unlocked position,
the line 3-3 of horizontal sectional view on Fig. 2.
Like reference characters mark-the same parts wherever they occur in the several iigures of the drawings.
A, indicates-one part of the garment to -which is secured by means of the washers 1 and 2 inthe usual manner the male member 3, which member is provided with ragage the dial slots 4, a central vo} ening 5 and internal shoulder 6, against which is adapted toenenlarged conical head 8 carried by the stem 9 which is slidably mountedjn a central opening 10 inthe outer hollow immovable button or socket member `11; the stem -9 carries a head or cap 12 which may be screwed or otherwise secured on the stem, to form a shoulder for the purpose of limit- I ing ythe insert-ion of the head 8 oi? the stem within the member 3.
The ybutton 11 is secu-red to the garment B-by means of the kwasher 14: andthe sleeve 15. A shoulder 16 is formed on the outer surface of the male member 3, and is adapti 1T of the sleeve 15 when the parts are secured together.
The device is operated as follows: The
Letters Patent.

male member 3 secured to one part of the garment indicated A, is inserted within the sleeve' 15 of the button 11, as shown in Fig. 2; the stem 9 is then orced'downward, and the head 8' made to enter 'the member 3, through the opening 5 therein provided, and by means of .the member 3 being slotted as indlcated at 4;, the opening 5 is permitted to expand, and .permit the head 8 to pass therethrough-, after which, the tendency of the member is to return being made from suitable material, preferably spring or resilient metal for this purpose; the head 8 after its entry within the member 3 is'held 1n will be noted that the diameter of the-stem 9 is of a larger diameter 5 of the member 3, in its normal position, consequently when the stem 9 is inserted within the Opening 5, the member l3 isexternal shoulder l'made to engage with the sleeve 15 at a point indicated 17, thereby securing the member 3- within the sleeve 15', whereby theparts A'and B upon which the respective oe-,tts of the button are provided are securely held together as shown in Fig. 1. When'the stem 9 is withdrawn from the opening 5 in the member 3, as shown in 2, thecmember 3 may be' easily withdrawn from within the sleeve of the button 11, 'and the parts A and B separated.
lt will be notedthatl have provided a button in which the Operation of fastening it to the article upon which it is to be provided is very simple. The button is also. strong, durable, and simple in operation, and eiiective for the purpose intended, and'is composed of comparatively few parts and which is cheap as to manufacture.
