JAMES B. GONDE AND CHARLES S. MOSCONY, 0F PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA..
CUFF-BUTTON LOCK.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented July 18, 1916.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that we, JAMES B. (10mm and CHARLES S. MOSCONY, citizens of the United States, residing at Philadelphia, in the county of Philadelphia and State of Pennsylvania, have invented new and useful Improvements in Cuff-Button Locks, of which the following is a specification.
The invention relates to cuff button attachments, and more particularly to the class of cuff button looks.
The primary object of the invention is the provision of a lock wherein a cuff button will be fastened in the cuff so as to obviate the accidental detachment of the same while being worn, and in this manner preventing the loss of the said button.
Another object of the invention is the provision of a cuff button lock which can be readily and easily applied to and removed from a cuff button, and when applied thereto will firmly hold the button mounted in the cufi, and also which will serve to sustain the ends of the cuff in relative relation and spaced from each other.
A further object of the invention is the provision of a lock of this character which on the application of the same to the cuff button will prevent the rattling thereof by reason of displacement in the button holes of a cuff, and also which will insure safety to the button, thereby avoiding the accidental loss of the same by becoming detached from 'the button-holes in the cuff.
A still further object of the invention is the provision of a lock of this character which is extremely simple in construction, reliable and eflicient in its purpose, and inexpensive in manufacture.
lVith these and other objects in view, the invention consists in the construction, combination and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawing, and pointed out in the claim hereunto appended.
In the drawing: Figure 1 is a plan view of the lock. Fig. 2 is a sectional View on the Copies of this patent may be obtained for responding parts throughout the several views in the drawing.
In Figs. 1, 2 and 3 there is shown a desir- I able form of lock for cuff buttons, and comprises a pair of opposed clamping jaws 15, united together through the medium of a re silient connecting neck 16, thejaws 15 being hollow and are integrally formed with the neck 16, cut from a single blank of metal. The inner adjaceiit edges of the jaws 15 are formed with alining notches 17 which provide a seat for the shank of the cuff button, the jaws 15 being spread apart when the lock is being applied to the cuff button. The resilient neck 16 serves to give the requisite springing action to the jaws for bringing the same together for the closing of the lock.
From the foregoing it is thought that the construction and manner of use of the invention will be clearly understood, and therefore a more extended explanation has been omitted.
What is claimed is A device of the kind described comprising a pair of hollow opposed contacting jaws, each of said jaws being formed with an inwardly and angularly disposed edge, the angular edges of both jaws adapted to form a V-shaped portion, said jaws being together formed with an opening, and an integral segmentally bent neck formed upon said jaws and merging at its opposite ends with the angular edges of said j aws and providing with said edges a substantially sectorshaped opening, said neck adapted to force said jaws together and allowing them to open apart against the tension of said neck.
In testimonywhereof we affix our signatures in presence of two witnesses.
