COLLAR-BUTTON.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Apr. 11,1916.
Application filed October 16, 1915. Serial No. 56,224.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, CRIsTPHUR SHAW, acitizen of the United States, residing at Boonton, in the county of Morris and State of New Jersey, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Collar-Buttons, of which the following is a specification.
The invention relates to buttons, and more particularly to the class of collar buttons.
The primary object of the invention is the provision of a collar button, wherein the same can be readily and easily engaged in the button hole in the back of the neck band of a shirt, so that when the collar is fastened thereon the button will not pull out nor the collar will not work loose or become detached therefrom.
Another object of the invention is the provision of a collar button of this character, wherein the construction thereof is novel in form, so that a collar can be conveniently attached to a shirt with despatch, without possibility of the said collar becoming freed therefrom while worn.
A further object of the invention is the provision of a collar button of this character, which is extremely simple in construction, thoroughly reliable and efficient in its purpose, readily and easily applied to and removed from the shirt or neck band, strong,
durable, and inexpensive in manufacture.
With these and other objects in view the invention consists in the features of construction, combination and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawing, and pointed out in the claim hereunto appended.
In the accompanying drawing: Figure 1, is a fragmentary rear elevation of the neck band of a shirt, and a collar, showing the collar button constructed in accordance with the invention applied. Fig. 2, is a sectional view on the line 2-2 of Fig. 1. Fig. 3, is a perspective view of the collar button removed from the band and collar.
Similar reference characters indicate corresponding parts throughout the several views in the drawing.
Referring to the drawing in detail, A, designates the neck band of a shirt, B, the button hole therein, which is located at the rear thereof, and C, a collar of the ordinary well known construction, having the back button hole D, therein as usual.
The collar button comprises a shank 5, having a single hook-like end 6, and an opposite double hook-like end 7 respectively, the said button being preferably made from a single fiat blank preferably metal, although the same can be made from any other suitable I material having the required rigidity and strength.
In the application of the button the single hook-like end 6, is inserted in the button hole B, in the neck band of the shirt, while the double hook-like end 7, is inserted in the back button hole D, in the collar C, which securely fastens the latter upon the neck band, to prevent the same from becoming loose or accidentally detached therefrom, nor the possibility of the collar button working out of the button hole B, in the neck band.
From the foregoing it is thought that the construction and manner of use of the collar button will be clearly understood, and therefore a more extended explanation has been omitted.
What is claimed is:
A collar button comprising a thin flat member forming a shank with single and double hook-like terminals arranged in the same plane with each other, the single hook CRISTPHUR SHAW.
