Application filed November 10, 1909, Serial No. 527,222. Renewed April 1, 1911.
To all whom it may concern: Be it known that I, Joserrr Borvm, a citizen of the United States, residing at Paterson, in the ,cou nty of Passaic and State of buttons in use project so through the band of the shirt and the inside band of the collar as to be objectionable and to interfere with the arrangement of a tie, and my invention being a flat and compact device is intended to obviate the objections and disadvantages of the projecting collar button.
My improved fastener is a W-shaped device and when in position the member (41.) provided with an outwardly extending embossed segment of a sphere (e), projects upwardly inside of the turned down portion of the shirt collar the loop formed by members (a) and (b). The members (0) and (d) are passed through the button hole in the collar and form a loop in which the necktie (g) is held in position between members (a) and (cl). The band of the collar is held in position in the loop formed by the members (6) and (0), the shirt collar bandisheld in the loop formed by the members -(a) -and (b) and the tie is held in the loop formed by the members (0) and (d) forming a fastener which securely locks collar,,shirt and tie together in proper position.
It is obvious, referring to Fig. -2- of the drawings, how the shirt band rests in New Jersey-,have lnvented certain new and rovements in Collar and Shirt E ecuring evices or Fasteners, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawing.
My invention relates to improvements in ties in position and artakes of the combined characters of a collar button and necktie holder.
The objects of my improvement are, first, to provide a comparatively flat and compact means for securing collar band to .a shirt band and for holding the necktie; second, to provide a fastener or device for securing in weight, durable, compact, and noncorrosive; and third, to produce such a device in a simple and inexpensive form by bending a strip or plate of metal three times to form four members substantially parallel to each bers with an embossed segment of a sphere,
in the accompanying draw- Figure --1-, is an enlarged perspective view of my collar, shirt and tie fasteneror ig. -2-, a perspective view of a collar with a fastener or securing device inserted into the button hole (f) and Fig. -3-, a perspective view of a collar showing a section of the outer portion of the collar broken away and this exhibiting a rear view of the fastener or securing evice in position in button hole (f).
My collar, shirt and necktie holder consists of four members (a), (b), (0), and (d) formed by bending a strip or plate of metal three times. The member (a) is provided with an embossed segment of a sphere (e) projecting outwardly from its face.
The collar band of a'shirt is now ordinarily formed double with a button hole, in
(b) and referring to band of the collar is held in the loop formed by the members (1)) and (c) and how the necktie (g) is held'in position in the loop formed by the members (0) and (03).
My invention may be composed of any suitable metal, but I prefer to manufacture it from aluminum which is not apt to be afiected by perspiration or dampness and therefore will not corrode.
The device will be so made that there will be, no sharp edges so that a necktie may be drawn in either direction to enable the wearer to tie it rapidly with facility.
The W-shaped device may be made to take up much less room than the ordinary collar button now in vogue.
It is obvious that my invention if made of aluminum maybe light, durable, inexpensive and may be made in so compact a manner as to take up very little space.
With this description of my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters-Patent is:
A collar, shirt and necktie fastener, or
collar band, through which button hole a collar button is passed and adapted to secure the collar bandof the shirt to the collar, by passing the collar button through the button hole '(1) in either a stand up or a The shortest collar the 10013 formed y the members (a) and,
