UNITED STATES BEBNHARD soxonow, or NEW YORK, N. Y.
consE'r-ms'rnmno.
Application filed May 4,
Specification of Iietters Patent.
Patented Dec. 1'7, 1912.
1212. Serial No. 695,241.
Tooll whom it may concern:
Be it. known that I, BERNHARD Sonor-ow,
a citizen of the United States ofAmerica,
residing at the borough of Brooklyn, county of Kings, city and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Corset-Fastenings, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact deScription.
This invention relates to an improvement.
in clasps or fastenings for corsets, and has for an object to provide'a jaw member adapted to grasp the buttons'on the button-meminafter appear.
I will now proceed to describe my invention in detail, the novel features of which I will point out in the appended claim, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, forming part hereof, wherein:
Figure 1 is a face view of my improved device; Fig. 2 is an enlarged cross-sectional view, the section being taken on a line a'a in Fig. 1; Fig. 3 is an enlarged fragmentary view of the lower end of the device; and Fig. 4 is an enlarged detail view of the My invention consists of a steel 1 which comprises a support and which is fastened to one member or half of the corsetltdjacent the support 1 is located a moviibl bar 2, which lies in a recess 2 in the sup To the support 1 I secure rivet gw afg' element of the corset secur' is not. shown for the reason at it in. well known element in this class of devices.
4 by means of rivets 4, one endfoi, each lock being pivotally secured to the as at 5. The outer end of each lock t is provided with a nose 5", which overlaps the jaw 3 and acts to confine the button said jaw.
To operate the bar 2, I provide a lever' 6 which is connected to the lower end of device; which To. the support 1 I also pivotally locks secured to the bar 2 and-lever 6, as at 8 and 9. The lever 6 is 'pivotally secured to the. support 1 as at 6. vOne end of the link 7 is provided with a finger 10 which acts as a stop in connection with anib 11 on the lever 6, wh'ch said finger by a spring 13, the free-end 14: of which bears against a pin 15 on the lever 6. The lever 6 is actuated by means of an locks 4 normally closed. The stop 10 and nib 11 together act to limit the movement of the lever 6 in the direction of the arrow. When the tab 12 is pulled downwardly, the
thereby openingthe locks 4, at which time the buttons on the button-member can be withdrawn, for disengaging the members of the corset, or inserted for clasping the said members. The jams 3 are provided with' rearwardly directed projections 16, which act as aguide for the bar 2 and upon which the bar rests.
It will be seen, by referring to Fig. 2 that the upper and lower surfaces of the bar 2 and support 1 are flush or in alinement,
will not cause a ridge in the corset.
Having now described my invention, what I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent Acorset" clasp member, comprising a support, locks .pivotally secured intermediate their ends to said support, a movable bar pivotally-fscured to one endof said locks,
y each of sai locks overlappingsaid jaws, alever pivot-ally secured to said support, a link connecting said lever and said movable Ijbur, a projecting finger carried by said link, a nib carried by said lever adapted to contact with said finger when the plvotal points I which connect sald link with said bar and said link with said lever come in substantial ver and said support, and a spring tending to keep said finger and said nib in contact.
Signed at New York city, N. Y., this 1st day of May, 1912.
. BERNHARD SOKOLOW.
Witnesses: Esmm O. Honmzunonn, W A Jeane.
whereby a flat structure is provided which Laws carried 'b' said support, a nose carried alinement with the pivotal point of said 1e-- is forced against the attached tab 12. The spring 13 keeps the lever 6 will-be rotated toward the right,
