This invention relates to improvements` in quiltingframes, and consists in a combination of a roller for the lining, a roller for the top, another roller for both the' lining and` top, and a stretching-bar, all so arranged that the bats may be applied as the lining and topv are wound onto the `latter roller from the others, after which both ,the top and lining, together with the bats, are wound back onto one of the other rollers,`to `be quilted, all as hereinafter more fully specitied.
Figure l is a transverse sect-ion of my improved quilting-frame.
H is a'sti'etchi11g-bzn, placed' over 'the roller G,
the 4 legs B below 1 and supported at the ends in the bars A or 'posts B. Y
same
.I is a frictim-brafke,l arranged to act on roller D.
.llhe rollers are all provided 'with,l1olding-pawls,l
ratchets. and cranks, for working and holding them.
The lining is first attached to the roller G,.prefer ably hooking to a stretcher-bai' M, connected by cords, and wound thereon. The top F is suitably attached to' roller D, and wound on it. The ends of the two'hanging from the rollers* are "then both attached to the lroller G, the lining being stretched over the bar H.
Thebats are then placed between the top and lining,
and the whole wound upon the rollerG until the liuiug is unwound from roller C. The top is then detached from roller D, and laid over the lining to roller C, when the whole is prepared for quilting, which is then proceeded with, and the quilted part is wound on roller C as fast as. quilted, being drawn otf from roller G in the same measure.
Afterthe top is disengaged from roller D, the latter may be removed, if preferred.
VIt 'will be seen that this improved arrangement of.
quilting apparat-us affords a very convenient means of preparing the stock little room in the house'.
Having thus described our invention, NVe claim as new Patent The combination of the ordinary roller C of 'a quilted in g-'fi-ame, with the stretching-bar H, constructedand arranged to deliverV the lining, as shown and described.
