y l v Beit known that LIBVDIG W. SEARLS, of Tin, y in the countyof Seneca, and in thestate of Ohio,
have invented certain new and' useful Improvements `in` Clothes-Pin; and` do hereby declareA that the followi ing isa full, clear, andfexaet tleseriptionthereof, reference being had to 'the accompanying drawing and to the letters of reference mai-kerl thereon, i'naking a' partei' thisspeciication.
AThe `nature of my invention consists in the construction and arrangement of afclothes-pin, as will be hereinafter fully set forth.
In `order to enable4 others 'skilletl in the art to which my invention apprtains to make and .usey the same, I will now proceed to describe itsoonstruction and operation, referringto the annexed drawing, which represents a perspective View of my clothes-pin.
My clothes-pin. is made of white metal, in two pieces, hinged together in the "middle, the upper part forming two arms or levers A A, which are held apart by l. springs B B.
`Thelower -part is provided with anopening, as
shown, vand jaws C C, whieh'aremade long enough to clasp two garments together;
The `opening through 0r above the jaws C C is made .suiciently large so as not to claspl the lline at all, butclasp the clothes just below the line.
Pressing the levers A A together will throw the 4jaws' 0 C apart, so as to passf over the line'ancl grasp or clasp the clothes.
