Letters Patent No. 113,204, dated March 28, 1871.

IMPRovEMENT iN cLo'rH'Es-DRIERS.

The' Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part 0 the same.

To all whom it mwy concern Bc it known that we, EDWARD N, Pon'rnn, of Morrisville, and ISRAEL J. GURRIER, of Wolcott, in the county of Lamoille, and in the State of Vermont, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Clothes-Driers; andY do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to .the accompanying drawing and to the letters of reference marked thereon making a part of this specification.

The nature of our invention consists in the construction and arrangement of a clothes-rack or clothesdrier, as will be hereinafter more fully set forth.

In order to enable others skilled in the art to which our invention appertains to make and usel the same, we will now proceed to describe its construction and operation, referring to the annexed drawing, which represents a perspective view of vour rack or drier.

s A A represent two brackets, made of metal, wood, er other suitable material, and attached to thewall a snit-able` distance apart.

Through these two brackets passes'a rod, a, upon each end of which, inside of the brackets, are pivoted three arms, B, O, and D, of uneqdal length, as shown.

All of these arms project sufliciently on the inner side ofthe rod a, so that, when turned down horizontally, their inner ends will come under and bear against` shoulders e e on the brackets A A, said shoulders thus holding the arms firmly in a horizontal position.

The outer ends of each set of arms B'B, C G, and D D are connected by rods b, c, and cl, respectively, as shown.

. Upon the ends of the rod egon the outside of the brackets A A are'pivoted arms E E, and. on the ends of the rod d, on the outside of the arms D D, are piv- A hook, k,is attached to the outer rod f, by means of which it may be held against thefwall when folded up. l

Having thus fully described our invention,

, What we claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is- V l. The combination ofthe brackets A A with their shoulders c c, arms B O, and rods a b c,'all constructed and arranged substantially as and for the purposes herein set forth.

2. The combination of the brackets A A with their shoulders e e, arms B C D D E E', and rods a b c d f h, all constructed and arranged snbstantiallyas and for the purposes herein set forth.
