UNITED STATES- PATENT OFFICE.

nosn-raomcron.
Be it,known that I, WILLIAM WAsHmo- 'roN, a citizen of" the United States, and a resident of Burlington, in the county of Burlington and State ofNew Jersey, have, in-- vented certain ney'v and useful Improvements and ,Fig. 6, a section of one of t in Hose-Protectors, of which the following is a specification.
My inventionrelates to. improvements in hose-protectors, and itis designed more particularly to use with low-cut shoes.
It has for its object to provide a protector for the, purpose of reventing the shoe dressing or blacking w on being applied to the shoe from soiling the hose.
It further has'fo'r its object to provide a protector which will not cause .any inconvenience while in use and which is capable of being quickly applied and removed.
It also has for its object to provide a protector which is simple, inexpensive, and durable in construction and easy and convenient in use.
My invention will be describedin detail be inserted ina shoe hereinafter and illustrated in the accompany ing drawings, in which- Figure 1 is. a side view of the rotector as .it. appears when in use,'applied etween the shoe and leg; Fig. 2, adetachd' side view of the protector; Fig. 3, a top plan view; Fig. 4, a front view; Fig. 5, a perspective view of one of the plates of the rotector; e curved plates of the protector and the lower end of one of the leg-straps.
In the drawings, ll]. which like numerals of reference indicate corresponding parts throughout the several views, 1 represents two outwardly-curved plates substantially semicircular in outline, which are designed to be inserted in the,top of a shoe and between the hose and the shoe, as shown in Fig. 1 of the drawings, the lugs 2 serving to hold or retain the said plates at the proper or desired height just above the to or e of a shoe. 'tached to said straps,
Patented Dec. 1o, 1912.
oted, as at 4, to the lower end of a leg strap 5, being pivoted .to allow of their being adjusted to meet the requirements of use.
' Foratt'aching the protector to the leg a bowed spring-clasp 6 is provided, designed to be clamped on the leg, to which the upper ends of theleg-s'trap 5 are pivoted, as at 7. The pivoting of the leg-strap to the springclamp'is to provide for adjustment.
I do not wish to. be limited to the precise construction of the protector, as shown in the accompanying drawings, as the same may be varied without departing from the spirit and scope of minventiom Having thus described my invention, what I claim is- 1. -In a hose-protector, plates designed to be inserted in a shoe to prevent the hose from being soiled, lugs on said plates for holding them in place inthe 'sh-oe, straps attached to said plates and a spring-clasp atsubstantially as shown and described.
2. In a hoserotector, plates designed to to prevent t e hose from being soiled, lugs on said plates for holding them in place in the shoe, straps pivoted to said plates, and means attached to said straps for claspin the leg, substant-ially as shown and descri d. 3. Ina hose-protector, curved plates designed to be inserted in a shoe to prevent the hose from being soiled, lugs on'said plates for holding them at the proper elevation above the top of the'shoe, straps pivoted to said plates, and a spring-clasp, to which the upper end of each strap is pivoted, designed to attach the protector to the leg, substantially as shown and described.
