To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, GEORGE GUY MILLER, citizen of the United States, residing at Lebanon, in the county of Lebanon and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Gun-Barrel Cleaners, of which the following is a specifica-tion.

The object in the present invention is to provide a cleaner of simple construction, one that is durable and one in which gun and ritle barrels of varied bores may be i cleaned.

The invention consists of a piece of sheet metal, preferably sheet steel, cut into the desired shape, as that of the drawing, and bent to form substantially a U-shaped body, the extremities of which are set at right angles and provided with cleaner blade engaging means, While the center of the device is provided with a swivel for engagement with the cleaner rod.l In addition to this plate thereV are a pair of removable and adjustable cleaner blades secured to the right angled ends of the plate.

By my present construction, the cleaner may be used indefinitely, it being only necessary to change the bl des when they are worn out.

tion, the blank l is bent to form a substantial U-shaped'body, its vertical walls 6 being set at any desired curve or angle, so that when pressed toward each other they will tend to open again when released. The up. per extremities of the walls, that is the enlargements 3, are set at right angles to the vertical walls, being bent outwardly, and on the same plane. To the top surfaces of these right angled ends, I secure a pair of barrel cleaning blades 8, each of which-.is formed with an elongated slot 9 through which a screw l0 passes and holds them in position on the parts 43, in which engagement they readily be removed for sharpening or replacfing. These blades may, if desired, as for instance in the case of a'rilie formed with a rified bore, be formed with a series of peripheral projections ll so that in passing through the rifle bore the entire surface will be cleaned.

It is evident that with my device, secured to theend of a cleaning rod and havingthe swivel connection, the mere act of moving the rod into and out of the barrel will thoroughly clean its inner surface, the swivel permitting the cleaner to adjust itself to any irregularities in the barrel. It is also evident that by means of the adjustable Vblades I may adjust the device for cleaning barrels of different sizes, or for tubes of any kind other than gun barrels. It is also evident that the blades when dulled may be readily removed and sharpened.

TVhile the body portion of the device is preferably of spring steel, the blades may be of any hard substance,either hardened and tempered steel or some equally serviceable substance.

Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim and desire to secure by Letters .Patent is l.
