Be it known thatI, IsAAo Levin, a citizenof the United States of America, residing at borough of Brooklyn, and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Garment-Forms, of which the following 'is a full, clear, and exact description.

This invention relates to improvements in garment forms, but more particularly to the skirt portion thereof, and means for releas, ably securing the same to the bust portion of the form.

One of the objects of my invention is to provide a garment form which can be packed into a comparatively mall space when not in use orwhen shipped A further object of my invention is to pro vide an adjustable skirt portion which can be attached to bust-forms of diiferent sizes, that is to say, of various hip and bust measurements.

A still further object of my invention is to provide a skirt portion which is more durable than those now in' use and less liable to be injured or crushed. The skirtportions of the garment forms now in use are generally made out of round wire, and during shipment or manipulation by tailors and others, these skirt portions become bent and knocked out of shape. objection, I preferably make my improved skirt portion out of flat spring metal strips, and secure the members, which go to form the said skirt portion together by means of eyelets. To solder the members of a skirt portion together is objectionable, for the reason that the soldered connections tend to break. To solder spring metal together is difiicult, if not impossible, and I find eyelets .to be the cheapest method of securement, as an ordinary eyeleting machine can be utilized.

I will now proceed to describe my invention, in detail, the novel features of which will be pointed out in the appended claim, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming art hereof, wherein:

Referring to the drawings my improved garment, form comprises the bust-portion 1, the-skim .consistin "of the tubular 6 and 7, which are detachably connected to- 82. As has been stated, one of the objectsof my invention is to render the skirt portion a justable;in other words, to adapt it to fit bust-formsof different dimensions. To render the skirt portion adjustable in this respect, I provide one-end of the band members 10'w1th buttons or catches 13, and the other end of the said band membersIO with slots 14 adapted to receiveandhold thebuttons 13, whereby the skirt portion is maintained in a circular form;

As can be seen inFig. 4, I provide a plurality of buttons 13 and a plurality of slots 14, by which means the skirt portion can be ,mcreased or decreased in diameter within oertaln limits.

To obtain a greater arrangement of adjustment, I preferably divide the skirt portion (in this instance) into two sections 15 and 16 and connect the sect-ions by means of toggle connections 17. It is quite obvious that the sections15 and 16 can be brought together or of the said toggles 17.

To attach the skirt portion to the bust portions, I provide the upper end of each of the vertical members 11 with. a slot 18, which is adapted to receive and hold a button 19 carried by a pivotally mounted plate 20, the said plate being carried by the bustportion of the form, as shown in Figs. 1 and 2. The object of pivotally mounting the plates 20 is to adapt them to be shifted to meet the slots 18 in the vertical members 11, should the diameter of the skirt portion be changed.

The advantage of the demountable skirt portion is that it can be applied to various forms. For instance, a tailor or dressmaker spread apart by means ort'ion 2'and support 4, the latter member 5 and rods ouredto the tubular member'5. To render the-skirt portion 2 practically indestructible,

To render the garment form a knock down structure, I make the support 1 as shown in Fig. 2. In other words, the rods 6 and 7 are screw-threaded on their adjacent ends and are held together by a coupling 21. The rod 6 is permanently fixed in the bustportion of the form and the coupling 21 can e secured to the header 22. As can be seen in Fig. 2, the rod- 7 can slide within the tubular member 5 and can be held in an adjusted position by means of the binding screw 23.

When the form is to be stored or shipped, the rod 7 will be taken out of the member 5 and unscrewed from the coupling 21. The skirt portion willbe removed from the bust portion by moving it upward until the buttons 19 aline with the openings 22, which communicate with the slots 18 at which time the vertical members 11 can be sprung outwardly and away from the buttons. When thus disconnected, the skirt-portion can be moved upwardly over the bust portion to the position shown in Fig. 3. It will be quite apparent that when the support at for the garment forms is disconnected, as described, and when the skirt portion is disconnected from the bust form, the structure will occupybut a comparatively small space.

As the members 10, 11 and 11 are spring members, being tempered to form such memhere, the skirt portion 2 will go flat as soon as the connection at 23 (Fig. l) is broken. In other words, when not in position upon a 4 bust portion of a garment form, the skirt portion will be flat, as shown in Fig. 4. For the purposes of shipment, this is of great value. Should I desire to ship a number of skirt portions, I can lay one upon the other and ship them flat, which not only is a protection against breakage or disfigurement, but also renders them more easily handled. My improved skirt portion is manufactured flat and is bent around the bust form when in use. By making the skirt portion outof flat spring metal strips, the structure is adapted to give under pressure and to spring back into shape when the pressure is removed. This is not the case with the skirt portions now in use, which are made out of wire or untempered metal. A further advantage of my improved skirt portion is that the diameter of thebottom can be changed without changing the diameter of the top. This feature is quite obvious and is advantageous for the purpose of hanging skirts of difiierent bottom dimensions, but of the same hip dimensions.

Having now described my invention, what Iclaim and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:

In a garment form, a bust portion, an adjustable skirt portion, plates pivotally secured, at one end thereof, to said bust por tion, and means carried by said plates adapted to releasably engage said skirt portion.
