UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
BENJAMIN T. BABBITT HYDE, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
GAME APPARATUS.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, BENJAMIN T. BAB- BITT HYDE, a citizen of the United States, residing at New York, in the county of New York and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Game Apparatus, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to a game apparatus adapted to be played by an indefinite number of persons by simply twirling a pointer disk frictionally mounted on a vertical post comiected with a base and so that the pointer-disk by gravity can come to rest on the base in which numerals of different denominations or values are displayed in a course or courses thereover.
The nature, scope and characteristic features of my present invention will be more fully understood from the following description taken in connection with the accompanying drawings forming part thereof, in which- Figure 1, is an elevational view of a game apparatus, embodying main features of my present invention; and Fig. 2, is a top or plan view thereof.
Referring to the drawings, a is a base of preferably circular form and constructed of any suitable material, such as paste-board, papier-machorwood, having arranged in preferably circular courses, numerals b, of
- different denominational values.
c, is a vertical post extending into the base and on which is frictionally mounted a pointer-disk (Z, which is provided with an opening al in one portion near the periphery thereof, as clearly illustrated in Fig. 2. This disk is frictionally maintained in en- Specification of Letters Patent.
Application filed March 9, 1912.
Patented Sept. 17, 1912. Serial No. 682,798.
gagement with the post 0, until twirled around by the hand and in revolving it gradually rides down the post 0, until it comes to rest at the bottom of said post immediately above the face of the base a, and opposite to a certain numeral of the base a, or between numerals thereof. When the pointer d points to a particular numeral, it counts in the game, but when the pointer comes to rest between numerals, it does not count. The pointer-disk (Z, is then lifted manually into its normal elevated position on the post 0, which is near the top thereof, as illustrated in Fig. 1, for another to twirl the same in the playing of the game. These acts are continued until what constitutes a game has been completed, that is, for ten or twelve times, and the person in the aggregate having the greatest values added together as recorded by the pointerdisk, wins the game.
Having thus described the nature and object of my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is In a game apparatus, a portable base-plate having displayed thereon configurations and a stationary post, a disk eccentrically arranged normally in frictional contact with said 0st and manually operated to cause said isk by gravity to fall on the post to above the base-plate thereof, substantially as and for the purposes described.
In witness whereof, I have hereunto set my signature in the presence of the two subscribing witnesses hereto.
BENJAMIN T. BABBITT HYDE.
