To all whom it may concern: l

Be it known that ll, FREDERICK R. LIND- LEY, a citizen of the United States, residing at Corsicana, in the county of Navarro and State of rleXas, have invented new and useful improvements in Removable Mouthpieces for Smoking-Pipes, of which the foluser by preventing the wearing away of theo teeth resultant from holding the stem of the pipe in the mouth, also enabling the user of the pipe to firmly hold the stem in the',

mouth when smoking.

A further object of the invention is the provision of a mouth piece which may be removably fitted upon the end'of the stem of a pipe, and that is provided with a valve Vwhich permits the drawing of smoke through the stem of the pipe, but will prevent the ingress of moisture or saliva through the stem to the bowl, thereby maintaining the pipe sweet and free from nicotin, during the use thereof.

A still further object of the invention is the provision of a mouth piece which is simple of construction, thoroughly reliable and purpose, and inexpensive' in efficient in its manufacture. ,K

Referring to the drawings by numerals, 5 designates the stem of a smoking pipe of the ordinary well-known construction. To the mouth engaging. end thereof is removably fitted a resilient or elastic mouth piece, as will be hereinafter more fully described. This mouth piece comprises an elastic body 6 construct-ed preferably from rubber, having opposed flattened sides 7, the said body being provided withone end wall 8, containing a central perforation?) extending only through one-half of the thickness of the said wall and opening through the inner face thereof. ilhis perforation' 9 intersects a counter seat 10,.'the same being cut into the outer face cf the wall 8 to provide a resilient flap valve 11, normally seated therein and closing the perforation 9 in the wall of the body of the mouth piece. This mouth piece is removably tted on the mouth engaging end of the stem 5 of the pipe and when the said stem is positioned within the mouth of a smoker, on inhaling, the valve 1.1 will swing to open position, thus permittin the smoke to be' sucked into the mout-h o the f smoker and upon the aspiration of the latthereby retaining the.- latter dry and obviating the accumulation of nicotin thereof.
