IMPROVEMENT IN WORKMANS' SCAFI'OLD.
The Schedule referred to in these Letters .Patent and making part of the same To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, WILLIAM H. BERGER, of Dauville, in the county of Montour and State of' Penusylvania, have invented a new and useful .Improvement in Torkmelis Scafiblds; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof. y
lhe object oi' my invention' is to provide'a neat I and durable inside scaffold which may bereadily put up, taken down, and packed in-asmall space, for convenience of transport-ation, for the use of plasterers, carpenters, paper-hangers, and others; the nature of which consists in the use of four or more upright screws furnished with clampsworkiug on the screws and made of la shape to accommodate a rail, ou which the platform is laid.
Reference being had to the accompanying' drawing which is made a part of my specification, aud in which like letters indicate like part-s.
Figure 1 shows a perspeotivevew of my invention; Figure 2 isa view of one of the screw uprights; and Figure 3 is a. section of one of the, screws, showing the manuel' of supporting the rail in the clamp.
To enable others skilled in the art to make and use my invention, I will describe its construction and operation. Y
A, fig. 1, shows my scaffold complete,which consists of' four 01l more screws or uprights, similar to that shown in iig. 2, beingv usually set in blocks or on feet, for the purpose of making them steady.
On each screw C, I use the clamp B, lig. 3, which is made in the shape of an L nearly, with a sutiicient width between the long arm of the clamp B and the 4screw C to, admit the rail D, vwhich-is madel just wide enough 'to fit in tight, aud-ontop of the rail Ilay the boards E E E E E iu the manner shown, and the which -rests the rail D, as hereinbefore fully described aud set forth.
