To all whom 'it may concern:

Be it known that 1, EMIL OLsoN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Rockford, in the county of Winnebago and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Curb- Shaping Tools; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.

The present invention relates to curb shaping tools, and has for its purpose to provide a device of that character embodying separable sections to the end that the same is adapted for shaping curbs of difier- :;';t978t 31, dated December 13, 1910, and on which invention the present construction is submitted as an improvement.

Referring to the accompanying drawings forming a part of this specification in which like numerals designate like parts in all the views :Figure 1 is a perspective view of the tool complete; Fig. 2 is a longitudinal sectional View thereof; and Fig. 3 is a transverse sectional view of the same.

Referring to the construction in detail, the tool consists in a main section 1 and a relatively smaller section 2 that is detach- .ably secured thereto through the medium of continuous curved surface 8 for shaping the edge of the curb, as will be understood. in

like manner, the main section '1. is constructed with a relatively deeper and depending flange 9, which also provides with the working surface 6 a rounded face 10 covering a greater area and of more pronounced contour than the curved face 8. Both ends 2 of the tool are flared upwardly and outwardly as in the case of the above identified construction and for the same purpose'therein stated.

The main section 1 is formed with a laterally disposed flange 11 which, with the depending flange 9, forms a squared corner 12 that provides a guiding element for the tool. Said guiding element is adapted to bear against the inner face and top edge of the woodwork, or form which is used on the side of the curbing to hold the material while it is in a plastic state. With this arrangement, the tool may be held steady while it is being manipulated, and there is the further advantage that the height of the curb will be uniform throughout, as will be readily understood.

As above stated, it is a further purpose-of the invention to provide means for holding the material on the tool and delivering the same through the manipulations thereof, and to accomplish which it is proposed that the tool carry a suitable hopper. Said hopper is constructed of

13 and 14 of sheet metal or other suitable material. The

13 and 14 are secured by bolts 17 to the facing sections 1 and 2 through the medium of alining flanges 15 and 16 with which the tool sections are provided.

18 and 19 of the hopper sections are adapted to overlap in substantially that manner indicated in Fig. 1, whereby the hopper may be adjusted to suit the gage of the curb forming tool, and the adjustment thereof is made secure through the medium of slot and bolt connections 20 and 21..

A suitable handle 22 is secured to the hopper tlrrough the medium of bars 23 that are attached to one of the end plates 18 of the section 13, and in order that the adjustment of the

13 and 14 may not be affected thereby, the end plates 19 of the section 14 are suitably slotted as at 24: to receive said bars 23.

it is obvious that those skilled in the art may vary the details of construction and m'rangon'lont of parts without departing from the spirit of my invention, and therefore, l do not wish to be limited to such features except as may be required by the claims.

What I claim is 1. A curb shaping tool comprising separable and replaceable sections having smoothing portions and recessed to provide an opening in the top thereof, and having alining flanges surrounding said opening; and a hopper secured to said flanges and adapted to deliver material through said opening,

2. A curb shaping tool comprising separable and replaceable sections having smoothing portions and recessed to provide an openingin the top thereof and having alining flanges surrounding said opening; a hopper constructed of separable sections detachably secured to said flanges and adapted. to deliver material through said opening; one of said hopper sections provided with slots, bolts carried by the other hopper section passing through said slots and providing means for securing said hopper sections in different adjusted positions; and a handle secured to one of the hopper sections, substantially as described.
