My invention has for its object the production of a device for moistening and sealing down the flaps of envelops, one that is small in size so that it occupies very little room upon a desk, and is always ready for use. a
My device is very simple in construction, cheap to manufacture and effectual in its operation.
In the accompanying drawings forming part of this specification, and in which like letters of reference indicate corresponding parts I have illustrated one form of device embodying the essential features of my invention, although the same may be carried into effect in other ways without in the least departing from the spirit of my invention, and in these drawings Fi re 1 1s a perspective view of my invention illustrating the device when in use; Fig. 2 is a sectional view taken through the center of the device, and Fig. 3 is a transverse sectional view taken on line 33 of Fig. 2.

Extending upwardly from the base at an angle of 45 degrees more or less is a cylinder B, which is provided With an inwardly extending circumferential shoulder b. This 0 linder is soldered or otherwise secured to the base A, and has a small 0 ening b from said cylinder to the trough Fitting inside of the cylinder B is a tube or reservoir B which has a small aperture 1) at the lower end thereof. When in use this tube B contains the moistening liquid for the envelops. A cap B fits over the end of the cylinder B and is provided with an annular opening b". This cap may be screw threaded upon t e cylinder orheld thereon by frictional contact as desired. An elongated opening 0 is provided in the cylinder B, for a purpose hereinafter described.
A sealing bar C extends parallel with the moiste ing pad A, the center of one side there extending upwardly to the c linder B and isclamped around said cylin er and held.in position by the clamping ring C. Inwardly extending lugs c, o engage with the slot 0 to prevent said clamp from moving sidewise. The forward edge of the sealing bar is slightly curved to extend over the edge of the trough A and is then curved upwardly as shown to form the means for sealing the envelop. Each end of the sealing bar C is bent in an upward curve to form a guide for the envelop flap as it is about to be inserted beneath said bar to be moistened.
When the device is to be used the tube B is filled .with water and the pad A saturated, the sealing bar adjusted to approximately the Position shown in Fig. 2 when the flap d o the envelop D may be inserted between the sealing bar and moistening pad.
After the,envelop is inserted to the position ually pulls the moistener away from the flap, at the same time sealing the flap to the envelop. After the envelo s have been moistened and sealed the sealing bar C may be removed from the device by loosening the clampin ring C and the moistening pad A use for moistening the stamps to be attached.
