ADVERTISING DISPLAY DEVICE.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, J ULIEN STRANDERS, a subject of the King of Great Britain, and a resident of New York city, borough of Brooklyn, county of Kings, and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Advertising Display Devices, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to advertising display devices and more particularly to display devices which are composed of a frame work having steps, on each of which steps, display faces are supported so as to be at different distances from each other.

My improvement consists in placing a step shaped frame or pyramid upside down or standing the pyramid, so to say, on its head, and providing each of the steps with a display device, the step farthest in front being the smallest and the other steps gradually increasing in size to the rear.

The invention consists further in the improved supporting frame which may be folded in posit-ion in one or the other direction when not in use, and held in fixed position when in use. For this purpose my invention consists of a collapsible frame having steps thereon, display faces on said steps, and means for holding the frame in fixed position against collapsing.

The invention consists further of certain details of construction, which will be fully described hereinafter and finally pointed out in the claims.

Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts throughout the several figures of the drawings.

Referring to the drawings and more particularly to Fig. 2, the supporting frame 10 is composed of four walls, a side wall 11, a rear wall 12, another side wall 13 and a front wall 14. The rear wall has a part of its length bent over as shown by the bentover portion 16, and this engages the side walls in such a manner as to prevent the Specification of Letters Patent.

frame from collapsing. The width of the bent over portion is equal to the distance between the side walls 11 and 13. The side walls 13 and 11 are provided with steps 15, and 19, beneath each of which the frame is made complete by auxiliary inwardly-bent flaps 17 and 18. a

The front-flaps 11 are bent inwardly from the lower portions of the side-walls 13 and 11 respectively, the flaps 17 are bent inwardly fro-m the lower portions of the intermediate steps 15, and the flaps 18 are bent inwardly from the lower portions of the side-walls 13 and 11, and pasted respectively to the display- faces 20, 21 and 22. The display- faces 21 and 22 are provided with rectangular openings for permitting the steps 19 and 15 of the supporting-frame to pass through in forward direction. The connection of the flaps 14, 17 and 18 is made preferably by mucilage or other adhesive material, three display faces being shown.

The display device 22 extends downwardly to the end of the frame 10 and the frame 10 is cut off at an incline so as to act as a support for the display faces, the

inclination being so arranged as to take up the weight of the display faces. By the in clined bottom 25 of the frame 10 the display device is supported as shown in Fig. 2, and the bent-over portion 16 between the side walls prevents the collapsing of the frame 10.

WVhen it is desired to ship the display devices, the bent-over portion is moved out from between the side walls and the frame is collapsed whereby the several display faces are brought against the rear display faces and folded closely thereto, and by this means the whole display device is brought into flat shape. The frame and display faces are so arranged that collapsing of the frame may take place in either direction either to the right or the left as shown in Fig. 4.

. In the drawings a circular shaped display face is shown, each of which is larger than the preceding one, but it is clear that the shape of the faces may be changed, and also that various colors may be employed to greatly enhance the advertising effectiveness of the device.

I have shown certain embodiments of my invention, but it is clear that changes may be made therein without departing from the spirit of my invention.

Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent 1. An advertising display-device comprising a collapsible supporting frame having steps and bent-over flaps at the forward portions of said steps, a smaller displayface attached to the flaps of the foremost, and larger display-faces provided with open ings for the steps of the supporting frame and attached to the bent-over flaps of the intermediate and rear steps.

2. An advertising display-de\"ice, comprising a collapsible supporting frame, provided with forwardly-extending steps decreasing in height and an inwardly-folding portion on its rear-wall, bent-over flaps arranged at the forward front portions of each of the steps of the frame, a front display-face of smaller size, and intermediate 20 passage of the intermediate and frontsteps 25 of the frame.
