COMIPANY, OF CHICAGO, ILI JNOIS STAGE. DISPLAY mzvrcE Applieation flled March 19, 1928. Serial No. 262,872.
This invention relates in general to an advertising display device in the form of a miniature stage and has more particular referenoe to the constructon and the folding or collapsing of the device into a compact easily foldable constructi'on.
An important object of the invention is in the provlsion of a display device which is easily folded end uilfolded. A further important object of the invention is in the provision of means for holding the stage in.extended or display condtion.
A still further object is inthe provision of a removable top which is easily applied and removed and is for the purpose of further strengthning the display device in its extended condition, and is also for the purpose of protecting the contents of the device from dirt and from undesirable lighting eiects.
Other objects of the invention Wi ll appear hereinafter, the drawings illustrating a preferred embodiment of the invention.
In the drawings; I
Figure 1 is a perspective of a stage display constructedfin accordance with the principles of this invention;
V Figure 2 is a vertic al sectin taken on the line 2 2 of Figure 3;

Figure 6 is a perspective of a removable to 4 n a folding display device of this kind, it is desirable not only that the strueture resembles as nearly as possible a com lete stage setting, but also that it be folda le with a minimum number of folds into ascomp'act a parcel as possible, considering the sze of the device. It is further desirablein foldmg devices of this kind te insure that they will fold without question in a certain invariable manner, to enable'them to be set up and collapsed with the greatestease'by annexperienced person.
It is furthermore desirable that the outer or face' plate be folded upon' as feW lines as possible and in a direction to place the outer ASSIGNOB '.I.O CHICAGO CA.EDBOARD or display faces together so thatthis outer f face Will not be broken by a score line when the device is set up or unfolded. Display devices of this kind are usually made of cardboard, and the fold lines are fo'rmed by scoring one surface ofthe material so that the cardboard Will easily fold without breaking in the opposite direction. If the scoring is properly done, suc h devices may be folded.
and unfolded a numberoftimes without breaking through the material upon the score I lines.
Referring now more particularly to the drawings, a face plate 8 has a, substantially central score line 9 in its rear face, adapting the front or display side to fold together, as
indicated in Figure 4. The central portion of the face plate 8 is provided with a. score line 10 and a. out line 11 to form an arch-like Opening, the material of Which is bent rearwardly upon the score line 10 to forma floor 12 of the stage. 'Ihe edges 13 of this floor may be bent downwardly to form a. stiifening forthe ed es of the stage.
ecured to the rear of the face plate 8 along the sides only theieof is a back member 14 having score lines 15 and 16 at the rear -Corners of the stage and having a score line 17 in the opposite face of one of the sides of' the back member. y
In the rear portion of the back 14 below the level of the floor 12 of the stage a. supporting wing 18 is out out which is bendable forwardl to extend below the floor 12 of the stage an to support it approximately at the rear central the rear mem corner projections 20. A separate top member 21' slightly larger in size than the extended rear n'1ember 14 is provided with side slots 22 pgrtion thereof. At the top of and rear corner slots 23 co'nforming to the projections 19 and 20. at the top of the rear' member so that the projections willenter the 'slots when the top is pressed down, thereby holding the rear member 14 in distehded positon, stren hei1in the stage structre whe1i it is unfol ed, an proteeting the nterior of the stage from dust end di rt and elso fr0m r 14'are side projeetions 19 and the entrance of light through the to v of the stage which ma v be undersirable or some displeys. The oiwardedge 24 of the top may be turned u wardly, resting against the rer fece of.the ront plate 8 in 1ts distended position and holding it against collapsing movement. It is not intended that the top be secured to' the face plate as it is separately ap- 'upon' the score line 9-which causes the rear member 14 to partially colla.pse about the score line 17 in one side thereof, as shown in Figure 4, the continuation of this folding movement bringing one side of the fatoe plate 8 against the 0 pos1te unscored side of the rear member 14, e scored side of the rear portion of the member 14 on the outside of the face platea, thus substaxitiall y enclosing the fece alate 8 end folding it w1th the outer expose portion together, as olearly indicatori m Fi re 5.
