Be it known that I, FRANK W.. SWEET, of Minneapolis, Hennepin' county, Minnesota, have invented cert-ain new and useful Improvements in a Combined Picture Frame and Mount, of which the following is a specif fication.

,of cardboard My invention relates to mounts wherein photo raphs and other pictures may be place and supported in an upright position; and the object of my invention is to provide a simple and inexpensive form of mount which can be sold and shipped ina knockdown form and completed or set up preparatory to using.

further object is to provide a mount that will be neat and ornamental in appearance and serve as a frame for the picture therein.

The invention consists generally in providing a picture-mount having front, rear, and intermediate lates all composed of a sin le piece of flexi le material.

Fig. 2- is a similar view showing the mount partially formed. Fig. 3 is a perspective view of the completed frame and mount.

In the drawings, 2 represents the front plate, having an opening 3 of suitable shape, through which the picture is visible.

4 is the back plate, and 5 an intermediate one connected at its ends to the lower end of the plate 2 and the upper end of the plate 4. These three 'platos are preferably composed of one piece of flexible material of suitable weight, according to the size of the mount, and in any desired color. The various kinds used in picture-mounting may be employed for this purpose. When the three plates are made from one sheet, transverse scoring-lines are provided at the ends of the intermediate plate 5, and the plates are folded along these lines, the intermediate late being turned u i from the bottom of the ont plate and the ack plate being turned down from the upper end of the intermediate plate. The intermediate late is folded flat against the rear wall of tliie front plate and secured thereto by any suitable means, preferably by gummed flaps 6 on the longitudibe concealed by nal edges of the plate 2. The upper end of the front and intermediate lates 1s left open to permit the insertion o tween them, and a glass or celluloid plate may be inserted into the frame in front of the pic ture, if desired. The rear plate is bent downwardly and may have gummed edges 7 to present a finished appearance to the mount, and a slit'8 is formed therein to receive the end of the T-shaped tongue Q pressed or iunched lout of the intermediate plate 5. he tongue will hold the front and rear plates in their pro er relative position, and the opening ma e in the intermediate plate will the picture when inserted into the mount. The front plate may be stamped in any suitable design to add to the ornamental features of the device.

In some forms of mounts the guinmed edges maybe dis ensed with or modified, and in various ways t e ornamental features may be-changed without departing from my invention, the essential feature of which consists in the front, rear, and intermediate plates formed of a single piece of iiexible niater`al and folded in the manner shown.

I claim as my inventionl. A combined picture frame and mount comprising front, rear, and vintermediate' plates formed from a' single piece of flexible material, said front plate havin an opening through which the icture is visi le, and said intermediate plate being hinged to the lower end of said front plate and to the upper end of said rear plate, and a tongue, carried by said intermediate plate and engaging said rear plate, substantially as described.

A combined picture frame and mount comprising front, rear, and intermediate plates, said front plate having an opening through which the picture is visible and having Inmed longitudinal edges, said intermediate plate being attached to said front plate at its lower end and lhavingits longitudinal edges secured by said gummed fla s, the upper end of said intermediate plate eing attached to the corresponding end of said rear plate, an opening being provided for the insertion of the picture and a bracing means for said rear plate.
