Description

z, T. GREGG) DOOR HANGER. APPLIOATION FILED IEB.16,1911.
Patnted June 18, 1912.
' Lmwwa jthe carrier head, the tracks and the sliding 's'ra s ZACHARY TAYLQR GREGG, 0F GOLUMBU S, OHIO.
DOOR-HANGEB.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented June 18, 1912.
Application filed February 16,1911. serial No. 608,994.
To all whom it may concern:
4 Be' it known that I, ZACHARY. T. CREGO, a citizen of the United States, residing at C0- liimbus, in the county of Franklin and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Door Hangers, of
' which the following is a specification.
My invention pertains to an improved type of door hanger for sliding doors and it ,is particularly designed to provide a door hanger wherein all of the several parts may bereadily adjusted and arranged to compensate for wear and unnecessary looseness of operation.
It is further aimed to provide an operative structure in which the several. parts may be readilydismantled to facilitate repair and adjustment by increased accessibility.
Particularly, the structure is devised in such a manner that the relative angles of doors may be altered in practically any de I gree.
. The preferre'dembodiment of my invention is shown-in the accompanying draw-' ings, in which Figure 1 1s a side elevation showing one unitary portion of the structure, Fig. 2 is a vertical section taken on line 2-2 of Fig. 1, Fig. 3 is a detail view of the particular type of adjusting mechanism utilized preferably at one end of the track structure, owing to the inaccessibility of this end, Fig. 4 1s ado tail view of the outer end unit, showing a preferred form of spacmg structure for the carrier rails, and, Fig. 5 1s a detail view of the removable hanger for supporting the doors from the rollers.
Referring specifically to the several figures of the drawing, in which similar characters of reference designate corresponding parts,.a header or support designated 1 is utilized as the track carrying member and, as shown in the drawings, is provided with spaced bolt members 2 and 3 preferably extending' through plates 45 and 6-7. These bolts 2 and 3 are vertically adjustable by means of nuts 8 and 9 and locked in adjusted position by means of lock nuts 10 and .11. At one end of the header 1, apertures are provided for'thereception of the legs of a staple 12 which is vertically regulable by means of nuts 13.
Carried by the heads of boltgg g g i-,
substantially U-shaped hangers 14-15 having their lower ends bent laterally inward. At one end the staple 12 cobperates with a hook member 16. Carried by the inward extensions of the legs of the members 14-15 are spacing rods 17. and 18. Abuttingthese rods 17 and 18 on their outer surfaces-are tracks 19 and 20'p1jeferably of hard wood and clamped against the legs of the portiens ll15 by metal strips 21 and 22 bolted thereto. The ends 23 of the track members are spaced apart by a block 2& which may be'of wood and which serves both as a spacing block and a connecting medium between the hook member 16 and the track structure. The members 14 and 15 are preferably rigidly connected to the track structure, where= -.as the member 16 is connected for adjust-- ment by means of nuts 25 and 26 threaded thereon and disposed respectively above and below the spacing block.
The connecting medium between the track shown in the drawings, is practically one of two units which are used in cooperativerelation 1n the form of two sliding doors and complemental door hanger mechanism. It
is again emphasized that practically any de gree of adjustment may beeifeoted by means of the connecting devices between the header, the tracks and the doors.
"What I claim, is-
A. door hanger comprising a track supporting element, spaced vertically adjust able pins, a staple adjustably supported at one end of the 'track'supporting element, a-
trackway, inverted U-shaped hanger straps supporting said trackway at their lower said doonand havingathreaded adjustment 16' ends and supported from said spaced verticonnection with said hook members. ca-lly fldJIlSlfiblG pins, a vertlcnlly adplslable In testlmony whereof I affix my signature hook carried upon the extreme 1nner end of in presence of two wltnesses.
said track and adapted for detachable sup- 1 1 port from said staple, rollers operating on AAOHARY TAYLOR GREGG said trackway, a sliding door, hook 1nem Witnesses:
bers detaehably grasping the axles of said E. T. GUBERT,
rollers, and collars rotatably mounted on INGLE A. MORRIS.
